Miss Western Days.
In the Tiny Tot Pag-
eant, girls ages 18
months to 5 years will
compete in three cate-
gories for the title.
The queen and her
court will lead the pa-
rade and preside over
the Western Days activ-
ities during the week.
Two public hearings
this month will allow
residents involved in
the involuntarily an-
nexation of property in
the Elgin extra-territo-
rial jurisdiction (ETJ)
to ask questions and re-
ceive answers about be-
coming city residents.
The last public hear-
ing is Wednesday, June
17, at 7 p.m., at the City
Hall Annex.
The first of the two
hearings was held last
Wednesday night and
about seven residents
attended to hear about
the annexation.
Elgin City Council
members Wednesday
night unanimously ap-
proved a letter of
agreement for legal
services with Taylor,
Olson, Adkins, Sralla,
Elam attorneys and
counselors in defense
of a recently filed class
Planning and Devel-
opment Director Gary
Cooke, City Attorney
Charlie Crossfield, and
TRC Engineer Beau
Perry were available to
answer questions.
Cooke opened the
public hearing saying
he was tasked in 2014
to annex more land into
the city limits, which
also extends Elgin’s
ETJ.
“I presented four op-
tions to the city and
they chose three,” he
said. “We had a massive
mail out and got a great
response from most
property owners.”
