A Wildcat player keeps the ball for a running play during Elgin’s scrimmage at
Lampasas Friday.
Both teams come in with a dean
record in week one of the high
school football season.
The Knights will start a new
quarterback, so running back
Hodges, who rushed for more
than 1,000 yards last season with
8 touchdowns, will be expected to
carry a heavy workload.
Harker Heights has size in the
trenches and defensive playmak-
ers and will be a test for the Wild-
cats, who will look to start off the
Jens Anderson era with a win.

scrimmage at Lampasas Fri-
day afternoon. Due to weather
concerns, the freshman and
junior varsity scrimmages
were cancelled and the varsity
scrimmage was moved to an
earlier time.
This week, the Wildcats will
turn their focus to prepar-
ing for their first game of the
season, a home stand against
Killeen Harker Heights.
