The Sealy Sandbaggers won
first place in the ladies softball
league played on Wednesday
nights at the Sealy Knights of
Columbus ball field. Their league
record stands at 9-1. Second place
went to the Solid Rocks, third was
claimed by Just for Fun and
fourth by Last Chance.
The final game on Wednesday,
July 8, between the Sandbaggers
and Solid Rocks was a thriller.
Solid Rocks scored first with one
run in the bottom of the first in-

until the top of the fourth when
the Sandbaggers opened up a
five-run rally, and added one
more run in the fifth, making the
score 6-1. Solid Rocks came back
to add three more in the bottom
of the fifth and two more in the
sixth to tie the game at 6-6. Both
teams came up empty in the
seventh inning.
In the eighth Karen Tiner was
on second with two outs when
Michelle Richardson burned the
rover for a triple, but got caught
at home plate trying to stretch the
lead. The Solid Rocks threatened
in bottom of eighth with runners
on second and first and two outs.
