Room Restaurant Friday noon,
Gudrun expressed her apprecia-
tion with “Takk for mat” a
Norwegian expression for
“thanks for the food!’
Don’t tell a Norwegian that you
are “full!’ which is an over-used
American expression for having
had enough food. In Norway you
would be understood to be drunk.
“I think food here is very
good!’ the pretty dark blonde
with blue eyes responded. Her
radiant smile brightened her
natural beauty — she wears very
little make up. She likes green
salads and vegetables and pasta.
Norwegians eat a lot of fish —
boiled, broiled or fried. However,
there is a certain fish and potato
ball treat that is unique in
Kristiansund — no where else do
you find any like them, Gudrun
explained.
Rock music is the beat for the
younger Norwegian generation.
Waltzes, dances, etc. are called
“old dances!’ for the older
people. Gudrun, however, enjoys
all kinds of music including
opera, but only on the stage. The
same applies to musicals — she
likes to see them on the stage, but
does not appreciate them on the
TV screen.
As for other diversions Gudrun
is a swimmer and a dancer, and
“I like to ski fast” in the winter,
she said with emphasis on the
slalom, which is often seen in
Olympics competition.
In just a short two hours
Gudrun became a friend and a
link across the Atlantic.

the Etlinger Funeral Home in
Bellville. Mrs. Steck was born in
the Hacienda Community and

Our sympathy to her family.

and Charlie!’ also the words
“Happy Birthday Wallace Dean!’
The cake and cookies were served
for afternoon refreshments.
On July 11 was the 53rd
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs.
