when Boehm's PAT sailed through
the uprights with 10:21 to go be-
fore intermission.
The Tigers kicked off and by now
Sealy's defense was in full control.
They forced the Longhorns to punt
after three fruitless downs lost
yardage from the 42 to the 35.
The punt rolled dead at the Tiger

cranked it up. Burttschell was
stopped for no gain on first down,
but on secend down, he found
Lincecum on a pass good for 17
yards and a first at the 41.
Burttschell moved the chains
again when he ripped off 14 yards
on an option, making the line of
scrimmage the Hamshire 45.
Dabney ran for 5 on a reverse and
then Burttschell saw something as
the teams lined up for the next
play, called an audible, handed the
ball to Smith and the little speed-
ster did the rest on his 40-yard jaunt
to the end zone. This time Boehm's
kick failed, making the score 16-7
with 3:45 left before the half.
Sealy missed a golden opportu-
nity to add to iu lead after AU-State
linebacker, Steven Newsome, inter-
cepted a Constantine pass and ran it
back to the 38.
On first down, the hand off went
to Smith, who struggled for yardage
until the whistle was blown, and
had the ball ripped from his grasp at
the Longhorn 29 where TJ. Don-
nell recovered for Hamshire-Fan-
nett.
Sealy got the ball back one more
time before intermission when the
defense stopped a fourth down fake

quarter.
Sealy gave the Longhorns some-
thing to get excited about and now
they were forced to play catch-up.
Well, it didn't take long for Sealy
to get the upper hand and they were
led by Smith. He rushed 23 times
for 237 yards and scored five touch-
downs for the night. If you've
watched Smith run for a long time
and you think he won't dazzle you
any more — all of a sudden he will.
And he did it several times Friday
night.
After racing into the end zone
from 7 yards out in the fourth quar-
ter to put Sealy ahead 43-15 —
Justin Buchholtz, Longhorn corner-
back, dejectedly walked back to the
Hamshire-Fannett huddle and mut-

"Xigh school playofr football time
is a time when fans and former
players come from far and wide to
proudly watch their alma mater
play. And a fast trip to the conces-

class reunion as many old acquain-

Friday night was such a night as
fans came to watch the 11-0 Sealy
Tigers meet the 9-2 Hamshire-Fan-
nett Longhorns.
Sealy won the toss and elected to
receive. The Longhorns took the
south wind.
After the fumble and touchdown
pass by Hamshire-Fannett put the
Tigers behind, Sealy cranked it up
at the 21 after the kickoff. They got
off to a rocky start when an illegal

loss by an excited Longhorn, bring-

But now things started falling in
place as Burttschell spotted sopho-

hit him with a pass, good for 39
yards and a first at the Longhorn

From there on in rapid fashion,
Sealy worked he ball to the 12 in 5
