name of this church and henceforth
this church was named Cole’s
Chapel Methodist Church.
In 1929 the church was blown
down by a tornado. The structure
was rebuilt and remodeled and later
additions were made.
The building had to be razed in
1970. The present structure was
planned and was opened and conse-
crated on December 5. 1971. Many
days of hard labor, pulling nails,
moving lumber, burning trash and
helping in any way possible,
women doing the work of men as
there were not many men in the
congregation, preceded the devel-
opment of this building. Numerous
special gifts were made toward the
furnishing of the church and
kitchen.
With the sacrifice of the pastor,
officials, members and friends, the
church was able to pay a $10,000
note in less than five years and an
$800 note in three years.
Cole’s Chapel is one of the old-
est congregations in this commu-
nity.
