The year 1993 was a year of
change and growth for the City of
Alvin. We asked several of our
community leaders what they will
remember most about the year and
what they think the future holds for
Alvin in 1994. Here's what they
had to say:

New library breaks ground
A change for the better and a step
into Alvin's future took place when
city officials broke ground on a new
$1.6 million library that is sched-
uled to be completed in May 1994.
The construction of the library
was approved by the voters in a
bond election held in August 1992.
The facility, which is under con-
struction at the comer of Gordon
and Sealy Streets, will replace the
old city library on the comer of
Sealy and Taylor Streets.
Once the project is completed,
the library will be one of the largest
and facilities in Brazoria County.
"We owe a lot to the people for
this," Library Board President Joe
Rossano said. "They are the ones
that helped us get to where we are
