though strenuous efforts were made to
gave it, the loss was almost total.
"There must be some! reason for
this, brthren," said Mr. Sipes. "I am
going to find out what it is.”
Thereupon he employed a force of
men to sink a shaft on rae site of the
twice-destroyed church. Within a Tew

the church property was sold for many
times the amount needed to buy land
in another locality and buUd again.
