Keynote Of Trade Convention
minimising the expense at a conven-
tion to the city where the meeting
is held will be one of the chief sub-
jects of discussion at the second an-
nual session of the Association of Vat -
Convention Bureaus, a nationa or- 7-
ganisatlon, which opened here today.
Members of the asscciation believe
large guarantees of money to get con-
ventions are unnecessary and at
times burdensome and they hope to
eliminate them. They themselves will
set the example for all national or-
ganizations by financing their own
entertainment by a fixed contribution
from each member.
Publicity for both city and state,
mothods of entertaining conventions
anil various systems of operating
convention bureaus are other subjects
given prominent plarna on the pro-
gram. No set speeches have been
prepared and at all meeting:: the dis-
cussions will be of an informal round-
table nature.
The first meeting of the associa-
tion today will he without the form-
Million- and wetcoming addresses
usual with conventions, thus carry-
ing out the idea not to accept enter-
tainment from the city where the
body meets.
