— Mr. Kell speaking on his motion

that the'time was nqt propitious for
a campaign to bring new industries

there had been further developmens

was growing steadily and in fact was
growing as rapidly now as he would
care to see it grow, for if it grew
more rapidly There' would be a boom
with inevitable reaction. He said

known here and that he believed, the
future was very bright. After some

the organization of "Dokie" Temple
or the Dramatic Order of the Knights
of Khorassen, an order of the Knights
of Pythias. Petitions for-membership
In the order are now in circulation.
It will lie necessary to secure 100
members before the temple can be
authorised and it is planned to in-
elude--;, members from surrounding
towns in this stion in its member-
ship. t -
A. C Deatherage, J. K. Roach and
A. C. Wilson have been appointed a
committee on organisation. There
are at present about 100 temples of
the "Dokies" in the United States,
all in the larger cities. The parades
of the order in costume are spectacles
that attract great attention where-
ever they are given.. The Times has
been furnished the following synopsis
of the order and its objects:
The object of the Dramatic Order
Knights of Khorassan is to cultivate
the social side of life, and present an
oportunity for those who enjoy so-
clability, to spend an evening each
month in association with kindred
spirits, where they may participate
in ceremonies enlivening, entertain-
ing and provocative of amusement
as well. •
Th Order la particularly designed
to create a greater, broader and bet-
ter acquaintance among Pythians,
furnishing a middle ground upon
which tiie members of the different
lodges can meet, mingle and know
one another, thus breaking down those
lines of separation that too often exist
as between the membership of sep-
male Lodge organizations.
The initatiqn la a new and pleasing,
performed in a dramatic manner uy
dramatic characters, a beautiful cere-
mony refined in thought and amus-
ing in form; free from vulgarity or
degenerating practice*; entertaining
and instructive to the element—that
of a gentleman—to whom and none
other it extends an invitation to mem-
bership.
Under the ritual and ceremony, an-
cient and modern Knighthood and past
curenit life, and their features are
portrayed in dramatic form, a feature
new and hovel th fraternal secret
organization.
It has done more to cement the
bonds of friendship between Pythians
than any other branch of that Order.
Where formerly it was an exception
to see visitors in large cities from
lodges in the same territory, it is
now a common thing to have a com-
mingling of the entire fraternity at
almost every lodge meeting: if has
broken down the barriers that were
erected through petty jealousies, and
established a true friendship among
the members in every place where
located. - - •
It proposes to go on with the good
work and assist in carrying out the
true principles of Friendship, Charity
and Benevolence. No Votary can re-
' main a member of any temple who
i allows his membership to lapse in
| his Pythtan Lodge for any cause, ex-
cept to transfer his membership from
! one Lodge to another, he is at once
| dropped from the roll of his temple.
