in exercises Monday at 8 p. m. at
Cub Stadium. ‘ ‛

68 members of the senior class
bid farewell to their alma mater,
will be talks by the honor stu-
dents."
Principal G. L Keahey reported
Monday that the exercises would
be held out-of-doors, although
Baccalaureate Sermon Sunday
night was changed from Cub
Stadium to the main auditorium
following the threat of bad wea-
ther and wet grounds.
An estimated 700 to 800 per-
sons attended the sermon, offer-
ed by Rev. Gene Martin of the
Church of Christ, who spoke on
“The True Man.”
Most of the ciass will leave
for New Orleans Tuesday at 6
a.m. The annual senior trip will
be made by chartered bus, with
the group to return home Friday.

Fire Chief E. W. Pflughaupt re-
ports Mr. Gajeske had been
smoking in bed. and that the
blaze discovered by his wife, ap-
parently began after Mr. Gajeske
had gotten up.
Pflughaupt says the only dam-
age was the loss of the pillow.

BillVukovich, killed today in a pile-up on the Indan-
apoIto speedway as he led the field for what looked like

college movement as an integral
part of the development of the

an audience of more than 1,500
persons who packed the stand at
the Blinn College athletic field I
Sunday night -
The address of Dr. Bogue, exe-
cutive secretary of the American
Association of Junior Colleges,
featured the 72nd annual com-
mencement of the college, at
which diplomas were presented
by Dr. Thomas M. Spencer, presi-
dent, to 247 graduates, by far the
largest class in the history of
Blinn. The largest class up to
that time included o n l y 108
graduates, who received diplo-

count of the poor condition of
Highway 290 through the county.
Now since the highway has been
topped all across the county,
Chappell Hill has been by-passed
and the highway straightened
just west of the Brazos river, it
is felt the traditional Houston-
Austin route through'* Brenham is

highway has been rebuilt or im-
proved in all the other counties
