term possibility.
Aeeeptance of tha district attotney-
ship would have an important boaring
on the gubernatorial race only if
Governor Moody is a candidate. Bob-
bitt, appointed by Moody, would be
embariassed to run against him.
Moody frankly announced he never
would run against Fat Neff for My
office, Neff having gives him his
first appointment.
Many Reasons for Opposing
The grounds for ire against Moody?
' legislators.
Visitors have brought word that
out in the state the public generally
ta siding with the governor.
Observers point Mt that a break
with the legislature is not harmful
to Governor Dan Moody’s political
future He has been succeasful in
the past on "issue * campaigns. First
it waa the Ku Minx Klan, than
Fergusonism that put him in office.
- A 'second term is conceded every
governor except under unusual condi-
ties*. Already in his second term,
there are only two further political
, paths for Moody. One is a third
term. The other is a race for the
V. A senatofship with Morris Shep-
pard with whom he has no issue.
Howse Break in Hia Favor
A complete break with, the legiala-
tore gives Governor Moody a chance
of making a third term in the past. It
was unprecedented for m attorney
tenoral to jump into a governorship
race la an off year and beat the
- rovernor with whom he had been
elected in the previous race. Strange
aa it may seem under the Democratie
doctrine of rotation in office, the
third-term talk is quite general ta
Austin.
If the governor does seek a third
term, the problem has to be faced
of what to do with R. L. Bobbitt of
Laredo. Bobbitt, without formal ah-
nouncement, is being hailed generally
as a strong potential gubernatorial
eandidate. He was former speaker of
I the house. He supported Al Smith.
