Among the many new and modern improvements that
are booked for Alpine during the year 1910, none are of
more importance than a wireless telephone tower and
station which seems to be an assured fact. During the
pastyear the Collins Wireless Telephone Company have
entered Texas and are now making preparations to install
stations in the larger cities. As both San Antonio and
El Paso are to get stations, owing to the great distance
separating the two places it was deemed necessarv to es-
tablish two connecting stations and the good news now
comes that Alpine and Uvalde have been selected as the
places where these connecting stations are to be located.
This is only one of the many improvements that are to
be made here during the year and it will pay you to keep
your eye on the indicator.

The committee having in charge the arrangements
for the coming celebration which is to be held here May
5th and 6th, have met with much encouragement from
the business men and are preparing to put the big pot in
the little one, so to speak, and have an old time jolifica- .
tion. Some extra good horse races are booked for the oc-
casion, in fact those who know say they will be the best
races ever held in this section. In addition to the racing
there will be baseball, a minstrel show, which being under
the direct management of Dr. Locke of Fort Davis, is an
assurance of something good. There will also be a grand
ball, given in Alpine’s new auditorium, complimentary to
the visitors and Alpine wants YOU to come and enjoy
yourself.

At a recent meeting of the City Council, Saturday April 23rd, was designated as Clean-Up Day, or
in other words it is expected that you will put your premises in such a sanitary condition that they will
pass the inspection which is to be made by the city health officer. The Avalanche believes that every
citizen who has the interest of the town at heart will comply with this request. For the benefit of those
who refuse to do so, it will be well to read an ordinance that concerns such matters which appears in this
weeks paper. Alpine is naturally a healthy place and lets keep it that way.
