What’s up in football?
How did the Dallas Cowboys get to be Super Bowl
champions? One big reason is quarterback Roger
Staubach, recently voted the best all-around quarterback
in the National Football League by five of his fellow
players
Top five quarterbacks in the poll conducted by Sport
magazine were:
1. Roger Staubach, Dallas Cowboys.
2. Bob Griese, Miami Dolphins.
3. Fran Tarkenton, Minnesota Vikings.
4. Bert Jones, Baltimore Colts.
5. Ken Stabler, Oakland Raiders.
Judges in the poll were Bill Bergery of the Philadelphia
Eagles, Jack Ham of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Charlie
Waters of the Cowboys, Tony Greene of the Buffalo Bills
and Ken Houston of the Washington Redskins. All five
played in last season's Pro Bowl.

What’s up on Halloween?
Keep Halloween 1978 free of unpleasant tricks. If you
plan to send the youngsters trick-or-treating, observe
these tips from the National Safety Council and National
Confectioners Association:
1. Select costumes that are flame-retardant and light
in color, so children can be seen easily by motorists after
dark. Also consider attaching reflective tape to costumes
and trick-or-treat bags.
2. Costumes should be comfortable They should not
restrict the wearer’s vision or movement.
3. Trick-or-treaters should be accompanied by respon-
sible adults or older siblings.
4 Remind youngsters to stay on sidewalks, crossing
streets only at intersections or crosswalks. Instruct them
not to run across yards, through empty lots or between
parked cars.
5. Limit visits to the immediate neighborhood.
6. Permit children to accept only commercially
wrapped treats Require them to bring home all treats
before eating them.
7. Supply each trick-or-treater with a flashlight. Also,
use a flashlight instead of a candle inside the jack-o-
lantern.
8 Advise children to visit only houses with outside
lights on.
1. Set a curfew for trick-or-treaters of no later than 9
p.m.
10. Remind youngsters to show good manners.

Contrary to common belief
that secretaries are "dead-

for people with those skills are
in great demand and there's
every indication the situation
will continue for another five

mind that the efficiency of any
organization depends upon
secretaries and stenographers.
