Dear Editor:
The Bogata News is considered by
us all as "our paper". Sometimes we
forget who spends all the time putting
it together and who pays the bills...we
just call it “our paper".
. I want to thank you for keeping the
recent election and all other items of
controversy open to the reader. Our
neighbors don’t do that, I don’t like it,
but then their papers are not "our
paper".
I do want to say that I am very pro-
ud of Edd Hargett. He is one fine in-
telligent young man. I am pleased not
only did Bogata give him the support
for the State Senate that he received
here in August; they added 52 more
votes to that support in the September
election.
Hargett kept the support that he
received in all counties in the district
in August. In the September election,
his support increased in each and
every county. Locally he also gained
more support in Fulbright. Cuthand
and Johntown as well as Bogata and
Rosalie.
I know I can say for all of us who
supported him: "we wish him well,
and we all appreciate you for your
fairness to him and to us in "our
paper".
Thank you,
Frances Rozell

Rebels Shut Out By Tigers
The EyStanAnderson , ' ictory. The Rebels travel to Carlisle Fri-
Rebel Stadium last Fridav moht The Rebels gained 85 yards total of- day night for a clash with the highly
lokingstortneirfirsWan X fenseorthe evening and had seven A school Kick off - set
season and came away victorious in P
a sluggish 14-0 contest
The Tigers won the toss, but were
only able to muster sven yards in four
plays. The Rebels were also unable to
crank up their offense on their first
possession and were forced to punt.
Mt. Vernon took over and began to
pound their way towards the Rebel
goal. Nine plays later the Tigers
struck paydirt, but missed the extra
point attempt making the score six-
zipmidway through the first quarter
On their second possession of the se-
cond quarter, the Rebels put together
their first drive of the game. Good
running by Amos Brown and Clint
Stephenson and a diving catch by
Marvin Anderson netted the Rebels
two first downs before they were forc-
ed to punt The half ended during the
Tigers possession leaving the 6-0 at
the half.
The Rebels received the second half
kick off but only managed to lose yar-
dage on their first three plays. On
fourth down, punter Bradley Woods
had his kick blocked, giving Mt. Ver-
non excellent field position. The
Tigers wasted little time scoring and
made the two point conversion mak-
ing the core 14-0 early in the third
quarter.
On the ensuing kick off, wingback
Amos Brown went down with an ankle
injury and was forced to sit out the re-
mainder of the game. From here, the
Rebels marched into the Tiger ter-
rigory, picking up four first downs on
the way.
Elevne plays later the Rebels had
the ball on the Tiger 3-yard line with
a first and goal. The Rebels tried four
unsuccessful attempts to push the ball
across the goal line, only to have Mt.
Vernob take over on downs
During the fourth quarter, the
Rebels and Tigers were both unable
to mount a scoring threat. Thus giv-
ing the Mt. Vernon Tigers a 14-0
