CONCORD, N. H. CP — N e w
Hampshire natives are credited
with the founding of four news-
papers of national note.
Horace Greeley, a native of
Amherst, founded the New York
Tribune and another native of
that town, George W. Kendall,
founded the New Orleans Pica-
yune.
Stilson Hutchins of Whitefield
started the Washington Post and
Charles G. Greene of Boscawen
the Boston Post
In addition, New Hampshire
produced Charles A. Dana, fam-
ed editor of the New York Sun,
who was born in Hinsdale, and
John Wentworth, a native of
Sandwich, who established The
Democrat, the first newspaper in
Chicago.
