The state secretary of the Shott
Horn Breeders’ Association was in
the city yesterday, and while in town
was a pleasant caller at the Messen-
ger office in company with Jim Short.
The visitor stated that there were six
breeders of short horn cattle in Wise
county and he hoped to increase this
time. The state association is one of
the most important organizations and
its members throughout Texas are
among the state’s most successful
cattle raisers.

catur for the past eight years, has
tendered his resignation to take ef-
fect immediately. Mr. Cates will
engage in the abstract and insurance
business with offices in the base-
ment of the McMurray-Gettys build-
ing. John H. has made Decatur
one of the best, hundreds of our
citizens say the best, postmaster the
town has ever had, and the patrons
will regret to see him leave the
post. A civil service examinatio
will be held in Fort Worth soon to
name Mr. Cates’ successor.
