TRADITION AT IT'S BEST
Nlums, boutonnieres, bonfire, spirit posters,
rep rallies, Beaumont Central, the dance...in
one condensed word, Homecoming! An intri-
.re association of who to take, what to wear,
and where to make reservations for dinner,
were all questions that bombarded the stu-
lents minds in the later part of September and
carly part of October.
The football players practiced to make their
hool proud, as the votes were counted for the
I I homecoming Court. During the halftime cer-
cmonies, amid mud and drizzle, Melody
.leekins was crowned Homecoming Queen,
and the Ganders went on for a victorious win
)ver Beaumont Central 17-14.
On October 11, after members of the Stu-
dent Council spent hours decorating, the
Homecoming Dance was held in the com-
mons from 8pm-midnight. "The decorations
were better than last year, the maroon and
w white balloons really set the commons off."
;aid sophomore Jackie Herold.
Seniors, Andrea Johnson, Lisa Rodriguez, Lanesa
Williams, and Stefani Vara are waiting to exhale at
the end of the dance.Gary Roberts and his date enjoy his last Home-
coming Dance at Robert E. Lee. The music is
usually a blend of all types of music so everyone
canarticipate.Winning the Homecoming Game is not a giver
however, this year wins were hard fought bu
numerous. Players like AndreJohnson, who dem-
onstrates his athletic ability here, helped the Car-
ders score a win against Beaumont Central to add
to the Homecoming festivites. In the cafeteria, the Gallery Baltizar set up
cameras, light stands, and the beautiful back-
ground for memorable Homecoming pictures.
A lot of the students come merely for the
pictures and miss out on all the fun parts of
Homecoming. The background consisted of
cascading maroon and white material flowing
into a wicker chair with a maroon football
helmet. The other side of the background
sported a pedestal with maroon and white
flowers.
After all the hair appointments, makeup ,
time and energy spent getting ready for the
annualevent, most people who attended agreed
it was one of the better Homecomings. Get-
ting dressed up and being with your friends is
always fun, if you don't have to do it too often.
