"The scoring of cake is divided in-
to six parts,” said Miss Marie
Strange, Home Demonstration A-
gent, to the members of the Berdina
Home Demonstration ' Club at the
home of Mrs. H. E. Roberts Monday
afternoon, July 22, 1935, in her dem-
onstration on “cake scoring."
General Appearance, Flavor, Tex-
ture, Color of Crumbs, Grain or Dis-
tribution of Gas and Icing, are the
six points the cake is judged on.
Mrs. H. E. Roberts and Mrs. J. H
Talley brought cakes to be scored
and they scored, Very Good. Miss
Strange also spoke about the short
course being held at A. & M. College
this week. She baid the theme of
the short course is the changing of
rural life', she gave our delegate,
Mrs. C. C. Bippert, a short outline
of the program to be held.

Early Sunday morning the Luther
League and several additional guests
motored to Kerrville to spend the
day. We made the trip in a faith-
ful "Lytle Hi” school bus. As it was
early in the day and we gained al-
titude as we went along, the ride
was cool and pleasant. On arriving
at Kerrville we went sightseeing and
attended Sunday School and Church
Services. ,
We then rode about six miles out
of town to a nice picnic ground to
have our lunch, consisting of all
the good edibles that could possibly
have been taken along and each ate
his or her fill. After staying at these
grounds for sometime, we went back
to the city of Kerrville, where some
of the crowd went swimming, while
others "took-in” the town.
Late in the afternoon, all assem-
bled in the bus again and started
for the journey towards home. At
Comfort we stopped a while to go
through the museum. Despite the
fact that we drove along in a down-
pour of rain from Boerne to Cas-
troville, (only to find it dry and
dusty when we got to LaCoste),
everyone enjoyed the trip back; all
being happy and hilarious especially
since we were homeward bound.
Every member of the party was tak-
en to their respective homes, having
had n pleasant trip.
