Gilliam is 86, and she is origi-
nally from Alsace Lorraine. She

by herself, arriving in New York
in 1899, when she was only 14
years of age. At that time, she
couldn’t speak a word of English.
She said she enjoys living in the ,

The Francis Echtles just “be-
side themselves” with excite--
ment over their fantastic trip to
San DieAo, Calif., to visit their
son, Marvin, who is stationed '
there with the Navy. Marvin had
been out on maneuvers, but was
back in San Diego. The Echtles
toured his ship and then they all
visited Sea World and Disneyland
and metMarvin’s friends who had
had him as a guest for Thanks-
giving dinner the lstyearhe was
in the Navy. Mrs.’Echtle said it
was 10? degrees-in California
while they were there, but the -
heat didn’t bother them too much.
On the way home, the Echtles.-
visited Carlesbad Caverns and
Lincoln Forest in New Mexico.
They could hardly believe their
eyes on how beautiful the
scenery was there, with apples
growing wild everywhere and pine
trees as high as you could see.
Mrs. Echtle said she wouldn’t
trade the trip for anything. They
took the trip as their birthday
present to each other, since Mr.
Echtle’s birthday was Oct. 12
and his wife’s was Oct. 10.
The R.D. Bipperts and Roger
sightseeing around Leakey, Kerr-
ville, and Sweet Home. They re-
ported having a wonderful time.
Also, Mrs. Wallace Lutz was a
visitor in the Bippert home.

in Kansas City, Mo., but they
feel sure they will locate him now.
