Marilyn Hickey will minister
at Living Stones Church in
Alvin on Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. The
church is located at 1407
Victory Lane, off FM 528. For
directions or further informa-
tion. please log on to living-
stoneschurch.org or call 281-
331-9517.
"What do you want to do
when you grow up?"
Like every other child,
Marilyn Hickey answered that
question often; but she never
said, "I want to marry a pastor
and be a Bible teacher with a
daily television program who
travels all over the world."
Nevertheless, that's where she
is today.
Marilyn was raised in a lov-
ing family - but her mother did
not make a serious commitment
to Christianity until Marilyn
was in college.
In high school. Marilyn found
that her love for words made
the study of languages a joy.
This aptitude for languages
encouraged a desire to travel.
Putting her two loves together,
she decided to pursue a career
as a foreign ambassador.
In college, Marilyn's plans
changed as she discovered the
ability and a strong desire to
teach. Marilyn had no interest
in teaching about spiritual
things and had just embarked
on her career as a public school
teacher when she met a young
man. Wallace Hickey soon
would change all her plans.
As much as she liked Wally.
Marilyn found it frustrating that
most of their dates were church
services. But they married jn
1954. They founded the
Denver-based Orchard Road
Christian Center in 1960. The
couple has two children,
Michael and Sarah.
Marilyn Hickey is founder of
Marilyn Hickey Ministries.
Since the day God called her to
"cover the earth with His
Word," the ministry has grown
tremendously, as evidenced by
its programs and works.
She has spent more than 30
years in intensive study of the
Bible, and she is known for her
unique ability to communicate
deep Biblical truths in a way
that is practical for everyday
life.
This international organiza-
tion has ministered to millions
of people through a variety of
programs; projects; crusades
and conventions: encounters;
overseas ministry trips and a
ministry training school; chari-
ty funds; counseling services: a
Bible college; and television,
radio and print media.
