station unit training (OSUT) at the
U.S. Infantry School, Fort Benning.
OSUT is a 12-week period which
combines basic combat training and
advanced individual training.
The training included weapons
qualifications, squad tactics, patrol-
ling, landmine warfare, field
communications and combat opera-
tions. Completion of this course
qualifies the soldier as a
light-weapons infantryman and as
an indirect-fire crewman.
Jason Schwarz

Jason Dale Schwarz of Mercedes
was among 1,063 students in the
College of Engineering at The
University of Texas at Austin
recognized for earning a spot on the
engineering honor roll for the 1985
spring semester.
To 'achieve the honor roll, a
student must have maintained at
least a 12-hour course load
throughout the semester, passing
all courses with a mimimum grade
point average of 3.25 on a scale of
4.0.
Parents of the student are Mr.
and Mrs. Leonard Schwarz of
Mercedes.
REPORTING CHANGES: If your child is approved for meal benefits, you must tell the
school when your household income increases by more than $50 per month ($600 per
year) or when your household size decreases.

House of Representatives, he was a
member of the Texas State
Legislature for twelve years.
