PBL Points Griffin
Past Ordinary
Learning
Griffin Middle School has taken off on
its quest to make school more like real
life. With the implementation of its
PBL (Project Based Learning) time built
into the school day, students partici-
pate in a dynamic approach to learn-
ing. Real-world problems and
challenges enlist students in active
and engaged learning, inspiring them
to gain a deeper knowledge of what
they are studying in classes. Eighth
grade science students build a model
to demonstrate their knowledge of
Newton’s Laws of Motion, in a PBL en-
vironment.
Students at Griffin choose flex areas
around the campus during PBL time,
where they can work on an inquiry
process, responding to a complex
question or problem. The procedures
encourage students to collaborate,
communicate and think critically.
