MRS. JOHN SHIPP I
Mr. and Mrs. Letter Pharr of
McKinney came back to Lucas to
celebrate their 50th wedding an-
niversary, Sunday, March 31st.
The celebration was a surprise
planned by their granddaughter,
Lylette Pharr, who makes her
home with them, and her father,
Mr. Gene Pharr, of Austin. Both
Mr. and Mrs. Pharr were reared
in this community and were mar-
ried while living here. The cele-
bration took place in the fellow-
ship hall of the Lucas Christian
Church from 2:00 to 5:00. The
table, covered in white with its
gold decorations, was centered
with a lovely arrangement of yel-
low glads and mums. Lylette
Pharr greeted the guests. In the
receiving line with Mr. and Mrs.
Pharr were her sister and hus-
band, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Brooks
of Wylie and her brother and
wife, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Spears
of Irving. Another sister, Mrs.
Johnny Akers of Lucas register-
ed the guests. Mrs. Leslie Mc-
Creary presided at the beautiful
white and gold cake, Sue Spears
served punch and Martha Mc-
Creary registered the gifts. Many
nieces and nephews as well as
friends from various places were
present. It was unfortunate that
their son (only child), after
planning the affair with his
daughter, was sent to Colorado by
his firm and had to miss the par-
ty.
Little Bill Thompson was 3
years old Monday, April 1st. His

Prosper School
Board Resets
Schedule
BY MRS. DOYCE STANTON
The Prosper School Board met
at the school building Monday
night, April 1, for their regular
monthly meeting. Since School
was dismissed 3 days because of
inclement weather the board
for each year and one to grow.
Bill is the son of Virginia and
Bill Thompson. Because of the in-
clement weather the cars were
rolled out and the party took
place in the Dale Spurgin gar-
age. The children loved their
Tonka hats — party favors and
Bill loves his gifts of toys. Those
who came to this little folk fun
party were Keith, Kevin and
Sandra Spurgin, Don Lee Ellis
and Hazel Moseley of Dallas. Mrs.
Moseley is a former Dallas neigh-
bor and family friend.
Mrs. Dean Pharr left Monday
of last week for Palestine to be
with her daughter, Mrs. 0. W.
Blackman, who was injured in an
automobile accident. Mrs. Black-
man is the former Willa V. Pharr
and was reared here. At this writ-
ing the extent of her injury has
not been determined.
The Dale Janes spent last week-
end in DeQueen, Ark. with Betty
Jo’s mother, Mrs. M. T. Penny,
and Dale’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
R. E. Janes.
COFFEE AT LUCAS
Guests prove a delightful
group especially if there are new
neighbors to be introduced, and
thus it was last Thursday even-
ing when Barbara Abel opened
her lovely home for an informal
get-acquainted session honoring
three newcomers — Rita Lueders,
Tina Goddard and Norma King,
to the Ranch Estates area of our
community. A dozen or so neigh-
bors and friends contributed to
the spirited conversation on many
subjects. The hostess passed cook-
ies along with the ever-present
coffee. The newest member of
the Don Abel family, two and
half month old Hamilton — a
beautiful baby, slept peacefully
throughout the evening.
Barbara and Dale Spurgin and
the children were last Wednes-
day afternoon, and supper guests
of their pastor, Rev. Ronald Clark
and family. It was their first op-
portunity to see Heather Leah,
the Clarks new baby daughter.
The Clarks live in Fort Worth.
