6. Pond Management Committee - Ed Schwille
Ed thanked those members serving on committee with him; Brian
Murphy, Bobby Fahrquahar, Billy Higginbotham, Rich Noble, Holt
Williamson, and Paul Doss. He reported that a follow-up
publication of the original draft of Assessment Techniques for
Small Impoundments is coming. The committee has placed a Novell
deadline on themselves. Then select individuals of the members
will review the final draft. The publication should be complet
six months. A motion was made by Ed Schwille to change the nan
the committee from Farm Pond Stocking Committee to Pond Managem
Committee. Ralph Manns seconded and the membership approved.
7. Nominating Committee - Dennis Palafox
Dennis recognized other members Victor Palma, Nick Carter, Rich
Noble and Gary Carmichael on the committee. He described the
qualifications of three nominees for President-elect. The
candidates were Dick Luebke, Valerie Morrill and Brian Murphy.
Brian Murphy was elected. Dennis expressed disappointment that
one from membership submitted nominations.
8. Editorial Committee - Dick Luebke
Dicirkthanked his committee members Larry McEachron and Jamia Ge
for serving. He reported that the committee performed all
functions required to put out the Proceedings. He thanked his
secretary for the re-type of manuscripts. He also reported tha
the Proceedings was single spaced to.save printing costs.
9. Program Committee - Maury Ferguson
Maury thanked Hal Osburn and Alan Rudd for their help on commit
She reported that the committee got a good deal on food and
beverages. Shrimp for the social was donated by the Texas Shri
Association.
Old Business
Gary Matlock again brought up the past stance of the Chapter n
to enforce Parent membership for regular membership with the except
of those holding office. The membership agreed.
New Business
Ernest Simmons moved and Steve Marowitz seconded that the Chap
pay membership dues to AFS for a foreign fishery worker. Membershi
approved. Tom Linton brought up the problem of selecting an indivi
and whether the Parent Society should select someone. Gary Matlockbrought up that the Executive Committee has a list of individuals,
Maury Ferguson suggested the Chapter make the selection rather than
leaving it up to the Parent Society.
Leland Roberts moved and Clark ,Hubbs seconded that the Chapter
provide with membership to a foreign worker the subscriptions to th
AFS Transactions, North American Journal of Fisheries Management, a
Progressive Fish Culturist. Motion passed by acclimation.
Gary extended his appreciation for support during his tenure t
the membership and turned the gavel over to Maury Ferguson, preside
for 1984-85. Maury thanked Gary for a job well done and will prese
Gary with a Past-President's certificate in the near future.
Maury addressed the mniebership and outlined two primary goals
hers: 1) She would like to see more participation by agencies not
typically represented in the Chapter such as EPA and the National
Marine Fisheries Service, and 2) She would like to see the creation
a new ad hoc committee on juvenile recreational fishing in urban ar
Maury also expressed her concern that the Chapter not take an offic
stand on issues due to the diversity of the membership.
