EASTLAND. Feb 29 (RNS) -
Mrs. Bill Collings was host to the
XI Alpha Zeta Chapter, of Beta
Sigma Phi at her home.
General theme for the year is
"Living In Our World” and vari-
ous phases on this subject are
taken up at the meetings.
At this session the subject was
"Food" and the host presented the
program in the form of a TV pro-
duction in which she gave the ori-
gins of various widely used foods
For example, she cited the fact
that okra. originated in Africa,
grapefruit in Jamaica, asparagus
and avocados in Central America.
Mrs. Coilings then placed her
audience on a pseudo-TV panel
and gave the slogans of the various
foods for the panel to name. Win-
ners were Mrs. W. A. Leslie, Mrs.
M. H. Perry, Mrs. LeJeune Hor-
ton and Mrs. Bob King.

Study Club will observe its Texas
Day program at its meeting at
3 p.m Thursday at the Woman's
Club, Mrs Frank Sparks, presi-
dent, announced.
Twenty-seven fourth and fifth
grade children from South Ward
School will appear on the pro-
gram. directed by Mrs Harold H
Durham, principal, and Mrs. Iral
C. Inzer. Mrs. Ben Hamner will
be the leader for the program

songs; two brief book reviews will
be given, "Shrine of Liberty” by
Julie Frost and "Stocky, the Boy
of West Texas" by George Kimb-
ler: three original Texas poems
will be read by Jana Eldridge,

ALBANY, Feb. 29 (RNS)-The
Albany chapter of the Future
Homemakers of America observed
parents' night in the elementary
school auditorium.
The approximate 100 guests
were welcomed by the president,
Georgie Bernstein, who also intro-
duced Gladys Diller, moderator for
the style show. Decorations were
prepared by Anita Jones, Anna
Speigelhauer, Claudia Dietemeyer
and Audrey Breeden
Following the style show, de-
grees were presented to the girls
who had completed this special ac-
complishment
Those taking part in the presen-
tation were Ann Lilly, Georgie
Bernstein and Sylvia Leech. Girls
receiving chapter degrees were

was host for the dinner. The wel-
come was given by Mrs. R. H
Rogge. WMU president, and the
response came from Jerry Lamm,
president of the senior class of
Newman High School
The Rev. George R. Wilson, pas-
tor ol the church, gave the invoca-
tion.
Chairman of the banquet decora-
tions committee was Mrs Gordon
Marcum. She was assisted by Mrs.
Doyle Fitts and Mrs. Robert Wy-
att. On the menu committee were
Mrs. C. E. Lambert, chairman,
Mrs. V. L. Elliott. Mrs. John Sto-
rey-and Mrs. A. B. Mosley.
In charge of serving was Mrs.
Jimmy Dennis She was assisted
by several members of the New-
man High School junior class. Mrs
Frank Earney directed table ar-
rangements with the aid of mem-
bers of the Reagan Simpson cir-
cle of the First Baptist Church.
Other guests at the banquet were
faculty sponsors of “the class and
administrative officials. Class
sponsors are Mus Louise Bollinger.

council delegates to the district
convention and will also name a

take office at the time of the con-
vent ion.

nominations made by each club.

be a "Swap Day" in charge at Mrs.
