‘Laugh Out Loud Stories'
Humor look center stage recently,
when 10 members of the Los Ebanos
Study Club met for their monthly meet-
ing. The meeting took place February
5 in the home of Lise Pinkerton.
President Mimi Gautier called the
meeting to order and led members in
the club collect and pledges to the
American and Texas flags.
Members answered roll call by re-
porting on books they are currently
reading. As an aside to the pledges,
the President informed the group that
Texas legislators are proposing to add
“Under God” to the Texas pledge.
In addition, President Mimi
Gautier appointed a nominating com-
mittee for officers for the 2007-2008
club year.
Program chairperson Marcia
Morrison announced that the next
meeting would be at the home of Jean
Lauder with Lorraine Kennedy serv-
ing as co-hostcss and Virginia Polfus
providing the program.
Linda Schwarz then read some
amusing excerpts from “Laugh Out
Loud Stories from Today’s Best
Known Women of Faith.”
One story was titled “Looking
Good” about a woman’s dilemma with
a pair of pantyhose. The other story
was named “Don’t Start Laughing
Now” about a man and his pet parrot.
Following the meeting, refresh-
ments were served during the social
hour. In attendance were Margie
Brewer, Kathryn Churchill, Mrs.
Gautier, Mrs. Kennedy, Jean Lauder,
Mrs. Morrison, Mrs. Pinkerton, Mrs.
Polfus, Ada Kay St. John, and Mrs.
Schwarz.
