Worship through music at GodSpace
I he beat is what you will first no-
tice about "GodSpace" the new
worship experience being developed
by First United Methodist Church in
Mercedes, says Devlon Goodman,
the program’s music director.
"You'll feel and recognize the
rhythms,” Director Goodman says in
describing the percussion rhythms
that underscore the music. “We bor-
lowed the drum beats of mambo, me-
Tingue and others - even the
Macarena to add to the joy and
brightness of the music.
“There are many different flavors
to the beats,” he continues. “This is
a praise service to energize and feed Street in Mercedes. (The street hits
the soul. If you love music if music the main canal at the far south end of
is what gets your heart pumping Capisallo, Illinois and Ohio Streets.)
then this service is for you.” . ...

I believe Mercedes Independent School District needs to regain its place as
a Valley leader in education. It will be done when the Board, Administration,
Teachers and Staff all work together to make all Mercedes students succeed.
All need to be an integral part of our community and commit to our
community’s excellence — and be prepared to be held personally accountable
for each and every student’s success.
In other words: Education with accountability - not excuses.
