j THE CLAN McRAE
I They Meet at the Atlanta Exposition
and Organize.
| i The Mcßae family who can trace
j. their ancestry back for several cen-
i furies formed themselves into a
> clan at Atlanta Georgia and will
f j proceed in a business like manner
| to get a true history on the bio-
|' graphical order of the family tree.
II It is said the family name is almost
(I as old as the name of the land of
j which it had its birth. The story
( goes: Centuries ago in Scotland
I there lived a young man who was
in the prime of life and enjoyed the
' full vigor of manhood. He was of
splendid figure and was considered
i a wonderfully strong man. This
I man on account of his successful
’ fight with an adversary was named
I by the people “Mcßae” signifying
I “Son of Fortune.” Back to this
| ancient day the genealogy of the
I family has been traced. The young
i man married and his children were
( the second generation of the family
! that has now become possibly one
of the largest on the face of the
' globe. The name of Mcßae has
been known for centuries. Every}
> where there is to be found ainem-
I ber of the family. Its members are
; legion.
I The reunion of the Mcßae clan I
' yesterday was called to order by
; Hon. T. C. Mcßae member of Con
; gress of Arkansas. The meeting
i was strictly a business session. Mo-
[ tions were made and a permanent
I organization effected. Several ofli-
; cers were elected and a committee
oppointed to secure a list of the
I names of every Mcßae in the world.
Hon. T. C. Mcßae of Arkansas
; was elected permanent chairman
I and Mr. A. H. Mcßae of Geargia
I was made secretary. These officers
I are to preside over the National
clan while other officers were elect-
ed to preside over the State clans.
The historian of theclan Mr. A. IL
Mcßae was unanimously elected
and installed. Mr. Mcßae has been
working up a list of the names of
the family for several years and is
thoroughly familiar with the de-
scendants of the father of all the
Mcßaes in the country. He will
now compile a book which will con-
tain tiie names of all the children
their history and occupation. This
volume will be distributed among all
the members of the family and will
be preserved as a souvenir of their
first reunion.
■ As the work of Mr. Mcßae the
historian will be very arduous he
will be aided by an asasslstant chief
who was elected yesterday after-
noon. After the election of officers
a recess was taken and those pres-
ent were requested to register their
names on an Immense book that Is
to finally contain the name of every
member of the family. There were
about fifty present yesterday and
the volume contained that number
of signatures when the meeting ad-
journed.

The Preacher’s Wheel.
] It has been reported in the. Stutt
jart Chronicle that while a certain
minister of that town was learning
1 to ride Ids new bicycle and just af-
ter having been thrown off receiv-
ing several scratches and bruises
' was heard by a silent listener so-
liloquizing as follows: “The blad-
der wheeled bicycles are diabolical
1 devices. They are contrivances to
| entrap the feet of the unwary and
' I skin the noses ol the innocent.
*' They are full of guile and deceit.
When you think you have broken
one to ride and have subdued Its
' wild and sat aide nature behold it
bucketh yon off in the road and
tears a great hole In your pants.
' Look not upon the bike when it
bloweth up its wheels for at last it
bucketh hke a broncho and hurteth
like thunder. Who hath skinned
legs? Who hath a bloody nose?
Who hath ripped breeches? They
I that dally with the bicycle.”
I Dunraven lias written a pamphlet
and he says the Defender's meas-
urement as reported for the race
was fraudulent. The New York
[ Yacht Club will not favor the Lord
h with an answer to his silly charge.
] He left our shores seemingly satis-
fied and he should now keep still
Should he ever offer to race again
■ he should be ruled out on the
