TEXARKANA ARKANSAS TUESDAY EVENING JUNE I I«!I7.
I ED SPEAR USES A RAZOR ON E. M.
SANDIDGE.
Both Are Young Men and Hail From
Hot Springs Spear Arrested and
Held to Await the Result of
the Wounds.
A difficulty occurred Sunday
night at 8 o'clock at 70(1 12 Main
street between Ed Spear and K. M.
Sandidge both of Hot Springs. The
young men were as “thick as peas
in a pod" up to the time of the fra-
cas lint for some reason their
friendly relations came to an ab-
rubt termination Sunday evening
and they (ought one another as fu
rlously as If they had been life-long
enemies. In the melee Spear used
a razor on Sandidge and cut him a
severe gash in the leg taking in a
part of the knee cap. Sergeant
King heard of the fight and upon
arriving at tlicscene arrested Spear
and conveyed him to the city cala-
boose. Meanwhile a doctor was
c died to dress young Sandidge's
wounds which while not of a nec
essarlly fatal nature are quite
painful if not serious.
Young Spear remains In the cala-
boose to await the result of San-
didge's wo mils Arkansas Gazette
Ed Spear Is the same young man
who killed Dr. 11. M. Heldlei at this
place some six or seven years ago.
HIS "JAG" UaVe’hlM AWAY.

the mild way of expressing It when
speaking of the “jamboree" Calvin
Bickham went on last night Ills
debauch revealed the tact that he
had on his person when searched
a line gold watch which was stolen
from a guest nf the Bickham House
several days ago It will be re-
membered that a Mr. Dally road
master of the T. & I’. road woo
put up at this house was robbed
one night id his money and watch
and the next day three men one
ol (hem Calvin Bickham were ar-
rested on suspicion but not being
able to llml the stolen proDerty on
them ora trace of a clue that
would associate them with the
theft they were discharged. Mr.
Illckham gets on his sprees often
and Is taken In by llm police ami
locked up until sober and he has
always managed Io pay Ills line to
get out only logo on another spree
as soon as Im can store up enough
money to buy the whiskey. Last
night he painted the town red and
while In mm of his boisterous
moods he was taken Into custody
by Officer Yarborough and on be-
ing searched when at the city jail
the watch which was stolen from
Mr Dally was found on his person
There Is not a doubt as to the
watch as II has Mr Daily's name
engraved on the case and was it
present Io him from the section
foreman ol the T. A P. road over
which he was road master
Mr Illckham will have a hard
time explaining how this watch
came Into his posesslon If Im did
not steal It himself as he was cog-
nizant of It being stolen ami had
time to give It up and put the iiii-
thorltluson the track ol Hm real

We feel aorry fur his people ns
