Why has our U.S. Congress
never brought up a bill creating
a National Holiday, for one of
the persons, who has helped
more and more people out of
difficulties than any other indi-
vidual in our nation s history. I
am referring to Franklin Delano
Roosevelt who served as presi-
dent of our country approxi-
mately fifty (50) years ago to-
day.
This fine intellectual gentle-
man saved this nation in part by
his passing of what was termed
the Social Security Act of 1935-
36. No other act or any other,
has ever come close to doing
more good for more people and is
still performing and doing the
job that he wished and planned
for this finest legislation to do.
He also created or had passed
a bill creating the Works
Progress Administration, called
the W.P.A.. The banks had no
funds available and most all

Eight freight cars were de-
railed on the Santa Fe near
Mullin late Saturday night and
200 feet of track was torn up. Six
tank cars loaded with creosote
were in the spill, but only one
developed a leak.
