The Goldthwaite Eagle
(Taken from the Eagle files of
January 5,1989)
Last Friday, December 30, the
Lady Eagles played the Marble
Falls Lady Mustangs in the Gold-
thwaite Gym. The Lady Eagles
had a very good showing of their
talent. It was a good game and
the younger players got more play-
ing time under pressure.
The final score of the game was
66-49. This win against Marble
1 Calls takes the Lady 'Eagles
record to 14-2.
The Goldthwaite ISD, as a re-
sult of action taken at a special
called meeting of the Board of
Trustees on Monday, December
19, has entered into an agree-
ment with members of the Porter
family to pur chase ap p roxim ately
three acres of land across the
street from the west side of the
high school campus. The land
fronts on Trent Street, just across,
from the west end of the football
field, and goes all the way through
the block to also front on Liveoak
Street.

Everyone knew it was going to
get very cold, but no one pre-
dicted the severity of the ice storm
that hit Texas over New Year's
weekend.
Mills County was virtually
blanketed in a layer of ice, caused
by a general rain, and then a
sudden drop in temperature that
sent the mercury on a nose dive
that finally landed smack on the
five degree level. And some parts
of the county reported a degree or
two lower than that, making it
the coldest morning in recent his-
tory.
Mrs. Dee Harris, the only new
official elected by Mills County
voters last year, was sworn in as
Mills County Treasurer Tuesday
morning. .
