dress Clinic & Hospital in Goldth-
waite has been scheduled for this
coming Sunday with open house
from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Dr. M. A.
Childress and members of the en-
tire clinic and hospital staff ex-
tended an invitation to the public to
attend.
County Judge Wm. G. Yarbor-
ough attended the annual conven-
tion of West Texas County Judges
& Commissioners Association held
in Mineral Wells last Thursday and
Friday.
Allen Moreland, this week an-
nounced the purchase of The Dairy
Cup from Mr. and Mrs. Hubert L.
Berry.
A/lcc Elmer L. Harris, son of Mr.
Benny Harris of Mullin, has been
reassigned from James Connally
AFB, Texas, to an overseas station
in Iceland.
The children of Mr. and Mrs.
W.H. (Henry) Bessent of Caradan
will honor their parents on their 50th
wedding anniversary with an open
house Sunday, May 10, at the
Bessent home.
Whisenhunt, Linda Kinman, Becky
Lindsey, Vickie Hasley and LaVeta
Spinks. Principal Jack Dean accom-
panied the group.
Dr. and Mrs. M.A. Childress of
Goldthwaite announced the engage-
ment of their daughter, Roberta, to
Donnie Stegemoller, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert Stegemoller of Priddy.
The wedding will be solemnized
June 29 at the First Baptist Church
in Goldthwaite.

The Goldthwaite Garden Club
won a Sears & Roebuck Grant of
$150.00 for Civic Beautification of
Mills County Park at the state meet-
ing in Austin last week. The club
placed second in Civic Beautifica-
tion and third in Scrap Book.
Truett Auldridge was elected
president of the board of trustees of
Goldthwaite ISD. Charles Conradt
was named vice president and Y.B.
Johnson, secretary.
A “Silver Tea” benefit for the
Jennie Trent Dew Library will be
held April 23. Money from the tea
will be used to buy books for the
library.
Mullin won Dist. 18-B Track
Crown with 202 points. Richard
Phillips and John Reeves each won
four events. Jimmy Hicks was first
in shot out and Tommy Etheridge
in the 440 and sprint relay.
The Goldthwaite Junior High
track team took first place at the
District meet held at Bangs. Gold-
thwaite placed first in 440 yd. re-
lay; Kent Geeslin, 5th, 440 yd. run;
Mac Rowlett, 1st, shot putt; Gary
Warlick, 1st in 100 yd. dash and 50
yd. dash; Sam Campbell, 1st, high
jump.

For the fourth year in a row the
Goldthwaite Eaglettes Track Team
is sending a 1600 meter relay team
to the state meet in Austin. And for
the second year in a row the
Eaglettes will be represented in the
400 meter dash also. Pictured above
are Jill Ward, Julianne Saathoff,
Deborah Thompson and Vickie
Hartley. All four are on the Regional
Champion relay team that raced to
a fine time of 4:08 at Abilene. The

Jones: The Wind has blown until 1

Last week twenty five members
of the Mullin 7th and 8th grade
classes visited the Eagle Office. It

weekly paper was put together. Mr.
Bridges, also ran the large off-set
press so the students could see how
the paper was printed. Those who
were present for the tour of the
printing office were Debbie Lind-

In the Texas Interscholastic mu-
sic meet piano contest held at Bay-
lor College last week, Miss Robert
Elizabeth Littlepage won first place
and Miss Aileen Martin, third place.
E.B. Gilliam Jr. has been ap-
pointed by State Senator Woodard
to represent Mills County in prepar-
ing for the Centennial celebration.
Also appointed was Mrs. Joe A.
Palmer.
Mr. and Mrs. Hez Cobb of Gold-
thwaite are among parents of Bay-
lor College students who have been
invited to the first Mothers’ and Fa-
thers’ Day there. They will be quests
of their daughter Elvera.
