Staff reports
LISD school board members
voted to extend contracts and ac-
cept one resignation at the regularly
scheduled meeting on Feb 17.
Contracts were extended for
Leonard High School Principal John
Kent, Leonard Junior High/Interme-
D diate Principal Vernon Richardson
and Elementary School Principal
Brad Maxwell by one year through
June 30, 2007. Brad Connelly was
named as Athletic Director for the
2005-06 school year. Mike Dills was
approved as a teacher/coach for the
2005-06 school year.
Though he accepted the one-year
contract extension, Richardson also
submitted his resignation to the board
effective June 30, 2006, which was
unanimously approved. Richardson
released the following press state-

“After five years of service to the
Leonard ISD as Principal, Mr. Vernon
Richardson announced Thursday
that he was intending to leave the
district. Mr. Richardson’s contract
was extended through the 2007
school year by the board of trustees
Thursday night. Richardson came
to Leonard Junior High from Ford
High School in Quinlan in 2000. He
has served as Junior High Principal
for five years, and Maintenance and
M Facilities Director for several months
early in his stay at Leonard. Since
the departure of Mary Ann Marshall
as High School Principal in 2004, he
has served two campuses as both the
Junior High and Intermediate School
Principal. He also aided the athletic
department as an assistant coach this
year. His resignation takes effect next
year at the end of the 2006 school
year. Mr. Richardson is leaving the
district to explore career-enhancing
opportunities with another school

Open house,
talent show
next Thursday
The Leonard ISD will hold its an-
nual Open House on Thursday, March,
3 at all campuses from 6 p.m. until
6:45 p.m.
Immediately following open house,
the PTL is sponsoring a talent show
beginning at 7 p.m., in the high school
cafetorium. About 20 acts are slated
to perform, and the PTL is planning a
few surprises.
Everyone is invited to come and
enjoy both the open house and talent
show.
