The third crew was testing a three by one meter trench of the soils on the south edge of the present Draw's basin. This trench was completed to 148 cm. in one meter square. The rest of the trench wasn't completed to the total depth of 148 cm. Soil samples, a liter, were taken at each soil change in the test trench. This test trench also had numerous bone fragments with several flakes being recovered. These soil changes matched the soil testing that Shelly and Nials conducted in the Draw in 1981. The second day, September 10, shovel testing was started on the island, 25 cm .X 25 cm. Several crew members were still mining the ant den of the beads, much to the frustration of the ants.
