She says a boarder left the money

left, Cashier Patterson says, for the
Treasury department at Washington

For Better Developement.
Within the next three years we
look for tremendous developements
in all of South West Texas. Capi-
talists are looking this way and
money can change the desert into
fairy gardens. A great deal of this
section can be Irrigated by pumper
wells, irrigation canals and storm
water. Don't get excited and turn
the capitalists to other parts by run
ning your lands too high but sell a
part of your holdings and fix the
other so it will produce more.

4th. If we didn't get all the mail
we wanted in one office we could go
to the other and look.
5th. It would give some of our
sweet little girls more opportunities
to go and look for their males.
6th. It would be like some other
enterprises of the town, it would
divide up things a little.
7th, Our present postmaster and
his helpers seeing they had competi-
tion, would be more accommodating
and we might soon have "free mail

8th. It might divide up the busi
ness untill neither one could make
much; but then there would be more
time to loaf and go fishing.
We are confident that you will
agree with us, and with the business
man who first suggested this idea to
us, and we believe we have the man

The Wise Germans.
The completion of the German cen-
sus shows that 78 per cent of the
people of that great country live in
rural places. The cities of Germany
have increased in population, but
the bulk of the people still prefer to
remain in the fields.

The incident brings to mind the
difference between Germans and
Americans. In this country everybody
seems to have a craze to live in the
city. The race in America is for big
cities and not for big and widespread
argicultural communities.
Without at all attempting to dis-
cuss the wisdom or the unwispom of
the course which our people are pur-
suing we do not hesitate tp say that
the man who spends his life in the
open country has the best of it in the
