Winchester News
BY MRS. MELVIN FRITSCHE
LAWN MOWING ACCIDENT
Leonard Muesse, while mow-
ing on a hilly terrain, at Cotton
Wood Inn, in La Grange on
Saturday morning slipped on
some wet grass causing him
to pull the lawn mower On top
of his foot. This caused the
mower to clip his toes. He
was rushed to Fayette Mem-
orial Hospital where he re-
mained until Monday morning.
WINCHESTER FARM BUREAU
MEETS
The Winchester Farm Bureau
met on September 14 at 8 p.m.
at the Community Hall. The
program on Rural Water Dev-
elopment was presented by Cla-
rence Matula, Farmer’s Home
Administration, and Kenny
Stork, Board of Directors. Ray-
mond Schulz presided over the
business meeting. He gave a re-
port on the turn-off lane from
Highway 77 to the Farm-to-
market 153. A report on the
Directors meeting held in La
Grange was given by Erwin
Zoch. the motion was made

barbecue with the election of
officers has been scheduled for
October 22 with the executive
committee making the arrange-
ments.
FUNERAL SERVICES
Leon Hart, age 62, born and
raised in the Winchester Com-
munity, died on Thursday in a
Houston hospital. Services were
conducted from Heights Funeral
Home in Houston on Saturday
morning with continued ser-
vices from Phillips and Luckey
Home in Giddings at 2 p.m.
with burial in the Winchester
Cemetery. Survivors include
his wife, Loriane Hart of Hous-
ton; a son, Sandy Hart of Hous-
ton; three grandchildren; two
sisters, Mrs. Ola Hielscher of
Winchester and Mrs. Charlie
Williams of Smithville; one bro-
ther, C. E. Hart of Winchester.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sch-
ulz and Diana spent the weekend
in Houston visiting with the
Albert Goebels and the Harold
Imkens.
Miss Tillie Fritsche spent
several days in the Carl Frit-
sche home this past week.
Mr. E. C. Karisch of Free-
port visited with Mrs. Hulda
Karisch and Roy from Wed-
nesday to Sunday. Over the
weekend Mrs. Karisch, Brenda
and Curtis visited. Mr. and Mrs.
Leslie Karisch and Glenn and
Mr. and Mrs Morgan Karisch
all of Houston were weekend
guests. On Sunday they all spent
the day in the Melvin Fritsche
home. Also Mr. and Mrs. James
Ephraim Hand Kimberly and the
Hugo Koenning family of Hous-
ton; Mr. and Mrs. James Eph-
raim and Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Fritsche were in attendance.
Mr. and Mrs. James Pearson
and family of Houston visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Newton Froe-
hlich over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schulze
and family of Austin were vaca-
tioning here this past week with
Mrs. Ottilie Schulze.
The flowers placed on the
altar in St. Michael’s Church
on Sunday were presented by
the children in memory of Mr.
Ben Mitschke whose birthday
was on September 16.
Visiting in the C. E. Hart
home over the weekend were
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Schielack
and family of Houston and the
Roger Bells of Floresville, and
Jean Hart of Austin.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fritsche
were in Smithville on Wednes-
day night to help their grand-
son, Don Mutschink celebrate
his 15th birthday.
Get well wishes are extended
to Mrs. Alma Hentschel, who
had eye surgery in Temple
this past week.
Miss Toni Kraatz underwent
eye surgery in Columbus this
past week and a speedy recovery
is extended to her.

the Future Homemakers of Am-
erica elected new officers in
its meeting Friday, Sept. 17.
Rosie Roberson was elected
President; Annette Bell, 1st
vice-president; Janice Gerland,
2nd vice-president; Lessie Fil-
more, 3rd vice- president;
Sarah Davenport, 4th vice-
president, and Ola Mae Sim-
mons, Sth vice-president.
Also elected were Sandra
Jatzlau, secretary; Linda
Loewe, treasurer; Eva Lois
Toney, parliamentarian, Debbie
Pharis, historian; and Alesice

Mr. and Mrs. John Henry
Buscha are happy to announce
the arrival of a baby boy, Char-
les Yantis. Charles was born at
Bastrop Memorial Hospital on
Friday, Sept. 10 and weighed
in at 6 lbs. and 8 oz.
His grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Jacobs of Smith-
ville and Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Buscha of Smithville.
He is also welcomed by his
great grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Mikulenka of Smithville
and Mr. and Mrs. Yantis Jac-
obs of West Point, Texas and
also great grandmothers, Mrs.
Minnie Zwernmann of Giddings
and Mrs. Lena Behrens of La
Grange.
He is also welcomed by his

Mrs. Fritz Behrens of La
