Politicians Began To Lay Plans for
Their Particular Races
It looks like the Called Session
s going to do something after
playing politics for awhile at the
people's expense. Well, they had to
figure out what they were all go-
ing to run for and lay their traps
out and grease them up for the
main catch. Mr. Woodward for At-
torney General, Ferguson for the
U. S. Senate, Allred for Governor
and C. L. South for Congressman
from our new district. These boys
will all run good, but each one will
have a dangerous opponent, except
perhaps Jim Ferguson, who should
win in a lope against Morris Shep-
pard. the ultra dry, commonly
known as the Unknown Senator.

Inch Rain Falls; School Opened
Monday; Victoria Visitors Here
At last this community had
about an inch of rain, while it fell
heavier in some places than others,
but everyone got some stock water
put out when it was very badly
needed.
Our school opened last Monday
with quite a nice attendance.
Dodge P. T. A. will meet next
Friday night. Be glad to have vis-
itors come meet with us.
Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Irvine of
Fort Worth are visiting relatives
Miss Jessie Knutson, who is
teaching in the Hobbs School near
Rotan is spending a month at
home while the community catches
up with the cotton picking. Her
school started the first of August,
and so will not be late turning out,
because of the recess. We are
always glad when Jessie is at
home, because she is such a use-
ful and cheerful girl.
On Friday evening the Rochelle
Study Club, twenty-two strong,
were guests at the Women’s Club
garden party in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. B. Simpson of Brady.
Everyone had a most enjoyable
time, and found inspiration and
appreciation of the fine spirit and
work of the women’s club service
in our county, and are happy to
offer their co-operation in the
good work the clubs stand for. It
was fine of Mrs. Simpson and her
associates to think of the nice
party, and we want them to know
we appreciate being asked to be
a part of it.
The Masons of Rochelle at-
tended the Brady Lodge some
twenty strong also, so it is not the
women only who “come to town,”
Methodist services Sunday were
well attended. In fact we think the
church was practically full, while
the rain fell in torrents during the
service. Then Sunday night, Ed-

On Sunday, Oct 15, the Fourth
Quarterly conference of this
charge consisting of the churches
at Rochelle, Waldrip and Fife, will
be held in Rochelle. Dinner will be
served at the tabernacle, and all
who wish to take part, regardless
of church affiliation are invited to
bring dinner and spread it to-
gether after Brother Bacheller,
the presiding elder, has preached in
the morning. Mrs. Janies Boyd is
chairman of the committee.
We visited our County Libriary
Monday morning, and were so
pleased to know that Miss Fannie
Jones, our librarian has decided
to open the slot in the door again
so that w ecountry folks can re-
turn a book whenever we come to
town. The slot was closed upon ad-
vice of the state librarian, because
the books were injured by the fall,
but if we will tie them so the
leaves will not be turned back they
will be uninjured and this truly
great convenience will be restored
to the people for whose pleasure
and benefit the library was estab-
lished. We wish to express our ap-
preciation of this restored service.
