Rodeo events each day will con-
sist of bronc riding, steer riding,
bulldogging and calf roping, with
sizeable purses going to the win-
ners. The rodeo stock this year is
being furnished by “Red” Lyons,'
widely-known rodeo promoter of
West Texas. Jamie Brook is chair-
man of the Rodeo committee, al-
though he will miss this year’s
celebration, having departed re-
cently for trips to Europe and.
South America. The rodeo will be
in capable hands, however, with
Ben L. White, E. U. Wade, Torn
Sessions, George Spiller and other
experts in charge of this phase of
the celebration.
Brady’s big grandstand has been
enlarged this year, and it now has |
a seating capacity of 6.000. The:
track has been greatly improved, |
and racing enthusiasts are expect-
ing to see some fast times made:
this year. More than 100 horses j
are in training at the park, and
with more expected to arrive by j
the time of the opening of the;
meet, a fast field of entries will |
be anticipated in each of the five
daily running races.
As at all previous Brady cele- |
brations, there will be no admission
charges to the picnic grounds of
Richards Park, where thousands
of persons come annually to en-1
joy and to partake of the holiday
spirit each July.

courthouse, has been a busy man'
this week getting the grass lawn
that circles the courthouse in fine
shape for the Jubilee. Water,
sprinklers have been going day
and night and the turf is looking
good. Visitors always marvel at
the pretty lawn and when we get
that “new courtsouse” it will real-,
lv stick out like a sore toe in the
Brady down-town district. Oh, yes,
some of the Jubilee visitors use the
courthouse lawn for a bed during
the Jubilee and Mr. Green says
he will have the “Open Air Hotel”
all readv for the big three-day
celebration.

Auto License Colors
Austin. Texas. June 23, 1939.— |
Julian Montgomery, State High-
wav Engineer, today announced
that the State Highway Commis-
sion had approved the colors to be
used in the 1940 motor vehicle,
license plates as follows: Passen-
ger. purple on white: Commercial,
"range on black; Farm Truck,
Black on yellow; Tractor, Trailer,
Dealer, Motor Bus, Motorcycle,'
Sidecar, gold on blue.
The 1940 plates will be manufac- ,
tured by the Texas Prison System,

ity tax collectors on March 1, 1940.
Waldrip Celebration
Carded For Sunday
The Waldrip community’s annual
“Round-Up" in which former resi-
dents and friends return for a re-
union and all-day gathering, will |
be held Sunday, and community;
leaders are making preparations to
care for several hundred persons. I

during the forenoon, climaxed at
noon with a picnic dinner spread
on the ground under towering'
shade trees. The ladies of the com-'
munity will bring the baskets of
