The Haven to conduct
annual Dollar-A-Door
fundraiser Monday
In an effort to raise funds and awareness, The Haven Family
Shelter will once again hold their Second Annual Dollar-A-Door
fundraiser Monday, Oct. 18, from 6-8 p.m.
“The idea is for groups of two to go from door to door in
different parts of the community asking for at least a $1 dona-
tion,” said Executive Director, Donna Jones. “Many homes
can financially contribute more but for those who can’t, we are
asking for at least $1.
"We will also be collecting unwanted cell phones as part of
our cell phone recycling fundraiser. Regardless of the age and
condition, The Haven will receive at least .50 cents for each
phone we recycle; however, the newer the phone, the more we
will receive.”
The I laven will also be collecting used inkjet cartridges to be ,
recycled Oct. 18. Money generated from this fundraiser will help New chamber
provide for those expenses not currently provided for in grants ,
such as diapers, toiletries and groceries for the shelter’s clients. business
“The more volunteers we have, the more homes we can
cover,” said Mrs. Jones. “If anyone wishes to help, please call Fred and Sharry Ware plus

"Your Voice In County Government"
Pol. ad. pd. by Brent Deeds
We are "gettin er done!”
1. McCulloch Couny Taxes REMAIN LOW for this region of Texas, currently BELOW .53
compared to Mason Co .568, Menard Co .70383. San Saba Co .712, Concho Co .64095, Cole-
man Co .7571, Comanche Co .6445. OF YOUR PROPERTY TAX DOLLAR, McCulloch
County receives LESS THAN $.25. McCulloch County has THE SAME NUMBER OF FULL
TIME EMPLOYEES and ELECTED OFFICIALS (36) as it did 18 YEARS AGO
2. Your County Government spends 48% of its money DEALING WITH CRIME through Law
Enforcement, Jail, the Court and Judicial System. Record keeping (County and District Clerk,
much of which deals with Criminal Cases) is an additional 13.5%. Emergency Services (Fire/
EMS/Dispatch). Veteran's Services, Insurance, etc. accounts for 15.5%. Another 11% goes into
Road Maintenance, 4% to Buildings and maintenance, and the remainder (8%) goes to the
Library, Senior Center, Appraisal Office, Extension Office and other services.
3. Compared to one year ago, OUR LOCAL ECONOMY IS IMPROVING. Loadcraft is
HIRING PEOPLE. We have a Fourth Sand Plant (Cadre) that is CONSTRUCTING A NEW
PLANT and HIRING PEOPLE (and some of these will be NEW FAMILIES moving to this
area putting children in our schools). The Holiday Inn Express will open later this year, and an
Airplane Maintenance Company will begin operations in a NEW HANGER at Curtis Field in
the coming months.
4. Your County Government is WORKING WITH the City of Brady in efforts to Combine our
Resources (equipment and manpower) to better maintain Parks, Brady Lake, roads and other
projects that clean and improve the area. Additionally, COOPERATIVE EFFORTS between
our Law Enforcement departments are bringing MORE AND BETTER Criminal Cases to
Court. We’ve called OVER 700 CASES in County Court and disposed of 7 cases through Jury
Trials in the past 13 months, making McCulloch County a SAFER PLACE TO LIVE AND
RAISE A FAMILY.
5. Over the past year, your County Government has worked to be MORE TRANSPARENT
by e-mailing agendas to interested citizens 72-hours before meetings. We will begin posting
monthly expenditure reports on the County website in the coming year.
Early Voting Oct. 18 - Oct. 29 at the County Clerk’s Office, plection Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2,2010
