te farmer passed aw-
ay Friday, December
5, 1980 at a Leonard
nursing home.
Services were held
Sunday at First Bap-
tist Church conduct-
ed by Rev. Dale Hill
and Rev. Ernest Dun-
can. Burial was at
the Celeste Cemete-
ry.
Born in Byers, Ok-
la., he was a veter-
an of World War I,
and a member of the
First Baptist Chur-
ch. He married Vall-
ie Owens on Oct. 11,
1924, at Celeste.
Surviving are his
wife; son, Edwin We-
st of Celeste; sist-
ers, Mrs. Ethel Moo-
re of Lubbock and
Mrs. Olene Duncan of
Dora, N.M.; and thr-
ee grandchildren.

Mrs. Dotson was
born Sept. 23, 1892
in Nobility to Mr.
and Mrs. Elias E.
Golden. On Dec. 18,
1910 she married
Henry Dotson in Leo-
nard. She was a mem-
ber of the Methodist
Church.
She is survived by
one son, Joe Earl
Dotson of Phelan,
California; one dau-
ghter, Mrs. Howard
Harvey of Sherman;
four grandchildren
and three great-gra-
ndchildren.

Ellis Deel, Joe Sud-

Busy Birds
Seven members were
present December 1
for their weekly me-
eting. The project
was making tray fav-
ors to be given to
Snap Center at Chri-
stmas. Each favor
contains three piec-
es of candy wrapped
in green, gold or
red paper and tied
with colored yarn or
ribbons.
Candy patches and
appreciation certif-
icates were handed
out at the end of
the meeting.
Using money from
their treasury, the
Busy Birds decided
to buy a new toy wh-
ich will be donated
to the Toys for Tots
Christmas Program in
Leonard.
Seven members were
also present Decemb-
er 8 for the weekly
meeting.
The final activity
in the Wings Project
was taking a field
trip to Jo Murley’s
ceramic shop. She
explained to the gi-
rls how the ceramic
objects were made
and fired in the ov-
en. Everyone enjoyed
the field trip and
wants to thank Jo
Murley for her info-
rmative tour of the
shop. Thanks also go
to Cindy Cruit who
furnished transport-
ation for the group.
ONly four girls
participated in all
of the required pro-
jects and will rece-
ive the Wings Proje-
ct badge at the next
meeting.
