What’s Happening
Woman confronts
burglar in home
Allen police released details Fri-
day of a burglary that occurred at
2:22 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, in the
1100 block of Mistywood. A woman
was awakened by a burglar who had
entered through an unlocked back
door. The burglar ran from the resi-
dence wearing a multi-colored body-
suit, which was the only item re-
ported missing. It’s value was listed
at $40.
Police look
into burglary
At 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, police
were called to the 1200 block of
Spring Creek to investigate a burg-
lary of a residence. Jewelry, stereo
equipment and cash totaling $6,090
were reported missing.
Missing items included two stereo
speakers valued at $100 each, a
stereo receiver valued at $500, a
video cassette recorder worth $400,
a cordless answering system worth
$250, approximately 200 compact
discs worth $15 each ($3,000 total),
a compact disc player valued at $350
and a jewelry box containing six sil-
ver necklaces, six gold necklaces,
one charm bracelet, one watch,
approximately 20 pairs of earrings, a
class ring and $90 in cash.

accident reports
Allen police released details Fri-
day of motor vehicle accidents that
occurred Sept. 2 and Sept. 4 in
Allen.
The first was a one-car accident
that occurred at 4:06 p.m. Thurs-
day, Sept. 2, on southbound U.S.
Highway 75 12-mile south of State
Highway 121. Dean Adam Lauer,
24, of McKinney, was transported
to North Texas Medical Center in
McKinney by Allen Fire Department
personnel, where he was treated
and released.
Lauer was driving a 1991 Hyundai
Excel and attempted to exit the high-

off the ramp and struck a cement
drainage culvert, which caused the
vehicle to spin around. Paramedics
at the scene said the victim may have
blacked out prior to the accident.
The second was a one-car acci-
dent that occurred at 1:19 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 4 on southbound US
75 at SH 121. Jason Reid Barnard,
20, of Plano, was transported to
NTMC by McKinney Fire Depart-
ment personnel, where he was tre-
ated and released.
Barnard was driving a 1985 Chev-
rolet Camaro and was being pursued
by Plano police officers. He lost con-
trol, crossed over the center median
and rolled over several times, cros-
sing both northbound lanes.
Other reports
At 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, police
were called to the 800 block of
Ashwood to investigate a theft at a
house under construction. A patio
door and an entry door were re-
ported missing from the garage
area. The loss was estimated at
$240.
On Tuesday, police investigated
two thefts at neighboring houses
under construction in the 1000 block
of Meadow Park. The first incident
was reported at 3:12 p.m. A tempor-
ary front door valued at $55 was
reported missing. The second was
reported at 3:23 p.m. Twenty-five
sheets, of siding, 40 sheets of ply-
wood decking, 1,000 linear feet of
lX4s, 20 sheets of insulating siding
and 500 linear feet of lX2s were
reported missing. The loss was esti-
mated at $968.
At 3:48 p.m. Thursday, police in-
vestigated a criminal mischief com-
plaint in the 600 block of E. Farm-to-
Market Road 2170. An unknown
amount of damage was reported to a
1965 Ford Mustang.
At 7:21 p.m. Thursday, police
were called to the 100 block of S.
State to investigate a theft. A leather
purse containing a check book, cre-
dit cards and keys was reported mis-
sing. The loss was estimated at $30.

mers recorded .23 inches of rain-
fall Wednesday. He also reported
receiving .20 inches Friday, Sept.
3, making the total for the month

did not record any rainfall the
month of July. Summers said the
