A little boy took cold. His parents neg-
lected to give him medicine in tune or send for
the doctor. The little boy had a long, serious
expensive spell of sickness.

and overtake it. When we supply the medi-
cines they will be fresh, pure and effective.

A few more cattle deals were re-
ported yesterday and as some of the
buyers make their purchases and go
way others come in to fill their plae-
es. There has hardly been a time
since the beginning of the cattle
movement in the fall but what there
have been a number of cattle buy-
er, working in and out of Amarillo.
Of the states beyond the borders of
the Panhandle, (KHasas sends, by
far, the largest number of buyers.

Kansas, bought 500 head of "J. A."
heifers at Clarendon yesterday it
was a good bunch of stuff and was
purchased of Robert Muir

three year old steers to Evan Roberta
G Wt Lewis and J H. Richards
yesterday. The sale was earlier in
the week. The parties receiving the
cattle all reside at Emporia, Kansas.
They have been In this territory for
several days and left yesterday with
their cattle The shipment, amount-
Ing to ten cars, was loaded at Gen-
try
A F Linger and J H. Powell, of
Vega, bought fourteen registered
cows, two registered bull calves and
90 grade eattle yesterday. This is
all good stuff and brought very satis-
factory prices. The registered rows
brought $100 each and the three
deal, amounted 10 near $8,000. The
registered calves were bought we
Morris.and Cobb, of Beverly, and the
registered cows and the 90 grade
cows were bought at llappy of Lem

These cattle will all be delivered
within the next few days

Rummen Store To Go Up At Once
At Corner of Second and Buch-
anao Streets.
Bofiding operations continue to
move in Amarillo despite the fact
that we are just passing the mid-
winter season.
The frame buildings which have
been standing at the southwest cor-
ner of Second and Buchanan streets
have been removed ready for the
erection of Gus Rummell's new brick
store building. The new building
will be 40x60 feet and will be built
st a cost of about $2,000, The
plans for the building were draws
by Christian Risser, of this city, and
ths contract has been let to J D.
Tunnell, also or Amarillo. The
building will be a substantial one
with reenforced concrete founda-
tions, steel beams, gravel roof, me-
tal ceiling and plate glass windows.
It Will be wired for electricity, will
be heated by hot air.
The motel ceiling was being put
on in the new Eakle building yes-
terday.
it will perhaps require the re-
mainder of the work to complete the
finishing touches of the excavation
for the government building at Sev-
enth and Taylor street. This will
permit of the work of laying the con-
crete foundations to begin next
week. if the weather is favorable.
The foundations will be good and
strong, perhaps sufficiently so to
support a five or six story building
if it were necessary
A number of other buildings will
be started bet ween now and the first
of April and many more later in the
spring.

AMARILLO GREEN HOUSES
• GETTING READY FOR BUSINESS
The entire force of the Amarillo
Green House, is busy preparing sex
eral thousand packages of their best
garden seeds for the Panhandle to
trade.
The management states that the
largest orders ever made for hardy
shrubbery by any western corneern,
will be delivered here in time for
March planting The entire space of
the five green houses will tie utiliz-
rd this season and manager Kellen-
bach la looking forward to a record
breaking year.
Most Old People
Are Constipated
The wear of years Impairs the ac-
tion of the bowels. With advancing
age people are disposed to restricted
activity and exercise, which le re-
sponsible for the constipated condi-
tion of' most old folks. The diges-
tive organs are more sensitive to
the demands made upon them and
rebel more quickly.
A mild, effective remedy for con-
stipation, and one that is especially
suited to the needs of elderly peo-
ple, women and children, is the com-
bination of simple laxative herbs
with pepsin that is sold in drug
stores under the name of Dr. Cald-
well's Syrup Pepsin. A free trial
bottle can be obtained by writing to

After Absence of Year Or Two-
Have Learned To Appreciate
Our tlimate. ‘
Samuel Coover, conductor on the
Santa Fe, who left Amarillo about
1912, returned here yesterday after-
noon and will take up his residence
at 1401 Lincoln street.
Clarendon ions, who has tried his
best to get broke away from Ama-
rillo and failed, was in the city la»
evening and stated to the News that
he thinks, he and Mrs. Ions will be
hack here In the near future. Fact
is, although they have been sway
from Amarillo a year or two, their
household goods are still here He
felt that his business made it neces-
sary for him to reside down state
and now that he has left the Pan-
handle ozone for these many months,
he sees what has has missed and Is
now ready to even say that he has
never left Amarillo. He notes with
pleasure our many improve ments
during his absence. Including new
buildings, better lighting of Polk
street, etc. Hr is also glad to see
that work Is in progress on our gov-
ernment building and that our court-
house is to be re modeled nt once to,
meet the immediate needs of the
county.
It is estimated that from eighty
to one hundred families have mover
to Amarillo within the past ten
weeks, which means an increase of
perhaps 300 people in our popula-
tion. If this rate of increase should
continue Amarillo will show a ponui-
lation of 18,000 at a conservative
estimate, by the time of the next cen-
sus
