Denton County Courts Facility
and
Juvenile Justice Expansion
On Saturday, August 26th
7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
SUMMER
“ACTION TODAY THAT PLANS FOR TOMORROW”
Denton County is in critical need of a new courts facility and an expanded juvenile detention center.
Denton County has experienced incredible growth over the past 20 years, and over-crowding in our
outdated courts facility has begun to hamper the ability of our justice system to efficiently process
cases. Because of over-crowding, security is difficult to maintain and fire code violations are difficult to
avoid. The danger of a mis-trial is high due to the increased possibility of jurors seeing a defendant
transported from the county jail. There is also little parking for jurors in the parking lot and even less
space inside the Carroll building for prospective jurors.
The Juvenile Detention facility expansion will triple the size of the Detention Center, bringing the
number of secured beds from 24 to 72.
