WHITEN UP!
The desire for whiter and brighter smiles is what drives many
patients to the dentist s office for in-office bleaching. This quick-
est and long-lasting of all bleaching procedures makes use of a
high concentration of an active ingredient (usually a 30 to 35 per-
cent solution of hydrogen peroxide), which is brushed on the
teeth and activated with heat or light. The treatment generally
requires two to four sessions and its effects typically last three to
five years. Also available from the dentist is take-home bleach-
ing, which makes use of a custom-fitted carrier tray to deliver a
prescribed cleaning gel to the teeth as the patient sleeps. This
treatment typically takes up to two weeks or such overnight use
to gain results.

Bicyclist escapes
serious injury
after car hits her
An 11-year-old bicyclist
escaped serious injury last week
after a vehicle struck her at the
intersection of Paige Road and
Gates Drive.
Lindsey Fellers of The Colony
was treated at Trinity Medical
Center and released after a vehi-
cle struck her while she was rid-
ing a bicycle at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
Police Briefs
According to accident reports,
Elizabeth Wilson Brindle, 44,
The Colony, was driving west-
bound in the 5400 block of Gates
Drive when she stopped at the
stop sign at the intersection on
Paige Road. At the same time,
Fellers, who was riding her bicy-
cle on the sidewalk along the east
side of Paige Road, also stopped
at the edge of the sidewalk at the
intersection, police said.
Both Fellers and Brindle, who
was driving a 1987 Chevrolet
Van, looked at each other after
they stopped, police said. After
looking at each other, Brindle told
police she started to pull out of
the intersection when Fellers
rode off the sidewalk at the same
time. Feller’s bicycle struck the
front bumper of the van, police
said.
