THE ASPERMONT STAR

mont, Texas, as second-class mail
matter.
If you expect others to "boost"
you must do some "boosting"
yourself.
Some knockers prove to be
good "boosters," so after all we
may be fortunate.
All in line now for that $10,000
school building1. We are going
to have it and we would like to
see a unanimous vote for the bond
issue. It will only strengthen
the school.
To Aspermont belongs the dis-
tinction of having had the hard-
est* pull of any town in West Tex-
as in trying to build up and make
something of herself, and the
same trouble still exists. There
are people who fight every move
she makes—even though it be to
the advantage of the entire coun-
ty,—and they cannot explain
why they do so. But the fact
that she has always come out vic-
torious is re-assuring to those of
us who continue to bouy her up
and work for her betterment,
and it does seem that the "knock-
ers" would eespair of their efforts
to down us.
uors in local option territory is
said to be invalid for the same
reason.—Dublin Progress.
The people of Nolan County
are agitating the removal of the
county site from Sweetwater to
some other point. A greater ca-
lamity could not befall the coun-
ty than to get this question be-
fore the people. It causes dissen-
sion, and enmity between the
best of friends. The people of
Sweetwater have gone there and
invested their money in the town
believing that it was a fixture
and to remove the county site
would mean the loss of most of
V
their worldly possessions. We
believe if the people will look at
the matter in its true light they
will cease agitating it and rest
content with conditions as they
now exist.
Stamford is making another
pull for the Texas Press Associa-
tion for 1910, and her chances
for landing it are very flattering.
We are straight in the fight for
several reasons:—First because
it will be a big advertisement for
all of west Texas and second be-
cause Stamford has the pluck to
"go after" everything in sight,
and we believe in encoui-aging
those who try to do something
for themselves. Here's hoping
that Homer Wade, Judge L. M.
Buie and the Stamford papers
will win the fight, and we firmly
believe they will.
Come to our loving embrace
Oriana. We love thee and will
make thee happy. Don't flirt
with innocent old Aspermont.—
Jayton Herald.
Now we wonder, what Kent
has up his sleeve? Oriana will
soon be a province of her own,
and will ask no favors from any-
one. We love her too, but we
know she can never be our'n,
neither will she ever be your'n,
Bro. Kent.
The bill recently passed by the
legislature and signed by the
governor, making it a felony to
sell intoxicating liquors in local
option territory is now said to be
invalid for the reason that it fail-
ed to recieve a two-third vote, on
final passage and was not reccom-
mended by the governor in his
special message reconvening the
legislature for special purposes.
The law making it a felony to so-
licit orders for intoxicating liq-
Judge Brooks, who is on re-
cord as defending Bailey's bribe-
taking, is figuring on running
for Governor again. An effort
is being made to put him for-
ward as the candidate of the
State prohibition wing of the
party.—Breckenridge Democrat.
Here's hoping that Judge
Brooks will make the race and
win. We are not an avowed state
wide prohibitionist, but when
such men as Judge Brooks enters
the field we are with him first,
last and all the time.
The End of the World
should it come tomorrow would
find fully 1-3 of the people suffer
ing with rheumatism of either
slight or serious nature. Nobody
need suffer with rheumatism for
Ballard's Snow Liniment drives

Mr. Bryan told an audience at
Decatur, Texas, that if he had to
pass sentence upon a republican
he would sentence him to habi-
tation in that State. And yet that
State always gives him the larg-
est majority.—Macon Telegraph
Why, bless your innocent soul,
the last is just the fact which
would make Texas seem like
Purgatory to a republican of ap-
proved loyalty.—Norfolk Virgin-

There is one remedy, and only
one I have ever found, to cure
without fail such troubles in my
family as Eczema, Ringworm
and all others of itching charac**

Curp. We always use it and it
never fails.
