Angleton, formerly of Rusk, were
at 1Q a.m. Friday at the Weches
Cemetery with the Rev. Gloria
Jennings officiating. Arrange-
ments were under the direction of
Wallace-Thompson Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Kelley died Jan. 4 in
Angleton from complications suf-
fered from multiple strokes. She
had lived in Rusk for 40 years
prior to moving to the Country
Village Care in Angleton in Au-
gust 1998.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Ruth and Ray Cutler
of Grapeland.
Survivors are her three children
and their spouses, Lynn and
Rebecca Kelley, of Jacksonville,
Genia and Charles Kelley of
Sweeny and D'ann Dyess of Rusk;
a brother and sister-in-law Ray
and Laverne Cutler of Grapeland;
a sister and brother-in-law, Nell
and Donald Welch of Houston. Also
surviving are grandchildren, Ben
Kelley and his wife, Jennifer of
Sweeny, Aaron and Matthew
Kelley of Sweeny, Christopher and
Sara Kelley of Jacksonville, Emily
and Taylor Kelley of Lindale, Jody,
Jennifer and Jordan Dyess of Rusk
and one great-grandson, Benjamin
Kelley of Sweeny; two nieces and
their husbands, Jan and Rodney
Parrish and Donna and Michael
Brake; two nephews and their
wives, Terry and Terri Cutler and
Dervin and Tommi Welch.

Tina Lewis Holland
Funeral for Tina Lewis Holland,
38, of Rusk was at 2 p.m. Saturday
in the First United Pentecostal
Church with the Rev. Jan Pate
officiating. Burial was in Jarratt
Cemetery under the direction of
Wallace-Thompson Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Holland died Jan. 4 at her
home. She was born April 22,
1961, in Channelview and had re-
sided in Rusk for nine years. She
formerly resided in Gallatin and
Channelview. She was a member
of the Memorial Missionary Bap-
tist Church of Rusk. She was man-
ager for Wells Manor Apartments,
worked for Winn Dixie in the bak-
ery department in Jacksonville and
as the bakery manager for Winn
Dixie in Palestine. She also worked
for the Rusk Housing Authority as
an administrative assistant.
Survivors are her husband,
Tallie Holland Sr. of Rusk; her
father and step-mother, Larry and
Gary Wade Glenn
Funeral for Gary Wade Glenn,
50, of Palestine was at 2 p.m.
Thursday in the Wallace-Thomp-
son Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Rick Dees officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Hill Cem-
etery.
Mr. Glenn died Jan. 4 in a Pales-
tine hospital. He was born Sept. 5,
1949, in Stillwater, Okla. He had
been a Palestine resident for three
and a half years and formerly re-
sided in Huntsville for 25 years.
He was a member of the Palestine
First Baptist Church. He worked
for Texas Department of Criminal
Justice Institutional Division in
Palestine for 26 plus years in secu-
rity and sociology, He was a U.S.
Navy veteran of the Vietnam Con-
flict.
Myrtie Bruce
Funeral for Myrtie Bruce, 92, of
Wells, was at 2 p.m. Thursday at
the Calvary Baptist Church in
Wells with the Rev. Horace
Fletcher officiating.
Burial was in Mount Hope Cem-
etery under the direction of Gipson-
Metcalf Funeral Directors of
Lufkin.
Mrs. Bruce died Jan. 4, in a
Lufkin hospital. She was born Oct.
4,1907, in Cherokee County to the
late Stonewall Jackson and Mar-
tha Elizabeth Summers McKnight.
She was a lifelong Wells resi-
dent and a homemaker. She
worked for the Wells Independent
School District and was a member
of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bruce was preceded in
death by her husband, Robert
Bruce, her daughter, Irene
Flournoy and her granddaughter,
Peggy Rodrigues.
Survivors include her daughter,
Betty A. Morris of Lufkin; two sons,
Simms J. (Pete) Bruce of Pollok
and Edgar Bruce of Wells; a sister,
Inez Gulledge of Wells; 13 grand-
children; 29 great-grandchildren
and nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Pallbearers included Michael
Bruce, Billy Brewer, Mike Horton,
Billy Horton, Tim Davis and Alan
Thigpen.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry
Horton, Ernest McKnight, Mark
Lowery and Cecil Smith.

Funeral for Bernice Henderson
Underwood, 87, ofDallas, formerly
of Rusk was at 1 p.m. Saturday at
the Shady Grove CME Church with
the Rev. Joe Harris and the Rev.
James Peoples officiating. Burial
was in Woodville Cemetery. Ar-
rangements were under the direc-
tion of Williams Funeral Home of
Jacksonville.
Mrs. Underwood died Jan. 2 at
her home. She was born Nov. 30,
1912, in Rusk and attended Shady
Grove public schools. She was a
housewife and a member of the
Grand Central Baptist Church in
Dallas.
Survivors are two nieces.
Friends served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were George
Colston, Cleo Session, Henry
Attaway and Rosco Session.

Mr. Home died Monday in
Longview, He completed one of his
true desires to become an organ
donor. He was born Feb, 23,1938,
to Seth and Christine Hall Home
in Jonesboro, La. His family soon
moved to Shreveport, La., where
he attended public schools and
graduated from high school. He
lived in Longviewfrom 1975-1983.
Mr Home worked for LaQuinta
Inns as a maintenance manager
Me and his wife returned to
I/mgview in 1995 and moved to
Kilgore in 1998. Mr. Home was a
member of the Central Christian
Church of Longview.
He is survived by his wife Peggy
Shoulders Home of Kilgore; two
daughters and a son-in-law, Kim-
berly Home Price of Longview and
Christy and Russell Turner of
Rusk; two sons and daughters-in-
law Keith and Stacie Home of
Henderson and Todd and Paula
Home of Radford, Va.; one brother
and sister in-law, Jack and Pat
Home of Tampa, Fla.; one sister
and brother-in-law, Nancy and
Paul Wilson of Shreveport; two
half-brothers, Billy and Ted
Moncrief; 14 grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.

dent of Alto was at 2 p.m. Monday
at A. Frank Smith United Meth-
odist Church with the Rev. Dr.
Randy Fitzgerald officiating.
Burial was in the Alto City Cem-
etery under the direction of O.T.
Allen & Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harrison died Saturday at
her home in Alto. She was bom
Oct. 15, 1905, to Garrett and
Minnie Stowe Holcomb. She owned
and operated Harrison Flower
Shop from 1955 to 1972. During
her lifetime she was a member of
several local organizations, includ-
ing the Alto Chapter of the Order
of the Eastern Star, Daughters of
the American Revolution, and
Daughters of the Republic ofTexas.
She was an active member of the
A. Frank Smith Methodist Church
having held many offices and was
a choir member in the past. At the
time of her death she had the dis-
tinction of being a member longer
than any other person in the con-
gregation. She was preceded in
death by her husband Fisher
Harrison.
Survivors include her daughter
and son-in-law Sammie Kate and
Billie Burt of Jasper, one sister,
Irma Cole of Jasper; two sisters-
in-law, Juanita Holcomb of Alto,
and Alpine Holcomb of Trinidad,
one grandson, Sam David Burt of
Humble, one great-grandchild,
Ayden Rose Burt of Humble, and
several nieces, nephews, and other
relatives.

Graveside services for Gerald B.
Daugherty Sr., 66, of Rusk, were
at 2 p.m. Monday in the Roselawn
Memorial Park Cemetery in Van
Vleck with the Rev. Paul Clark
officiating. Arrangements were un-
der the direction of Wallace-Th-
ompson Funeral Home.
Mr. Daugherty died Jan. 6 at his
home. He was born April 6, 1933,
in Mill Creek, Okla. He resided in
the Jacksonville area for 20 years
and at Sweeney. He was a Baptist
and retired from the U.S. Marines
Corp as a Captain, where he served
22 years with tours in Korea and
Vietnam. He was a member of the
Birmingham Golf Club in Rusk.
He was preceded in death by his
father, Bill Daugherty and a
brother, Bill Daugherty.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years,
Willie Daugherty of Rusk; his
mother, Trudie Daugherty of Jack-
sonville; two sons and daughters-
in-law, Gerald B. Jr. and Cathy
Daugherty of Argentina, South
America and Jody and Janey
Daugherty of Sweeny; two daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Deborah and
Norman Foster of Jacksonville and
Amber and Dwayne Partain of
Jacksonville; two brothers and a
sister-in-law, Bobby and Pat
Daugherty of Hankamer and Ken-
neth Daugherty of Bullard; 13
grandchildren; and one great-

Teachers submit compositions
"Playful Kittens" and David's piece
is "Soaring Eagle." These students
have participated in the Baroque/
Sonatina Festivals sponsored by
the JMTA each year, and have
also played in Honors Recitals also
sponsored by JMTA. Their compo-
sitions will be judged by officials in
the Texas Music Teachers Asso-
ciation and they are eligible for
cash prizes and certificates.
The Jacksonville Music Teach-
ers Association has submitted
three piano pieces to the Texas
Music Teachers Composition Con-
test.
The three student composers are
Sarah Millican, Bethany Millican
and David Robbins, all piano stu-
dents of Margie Adams. These stu-
dents have taken the theory tests
that TMTA offers each year and
they have used this musical knowl-
edge to enable them to write these
piano pieces.
Sarah has written a piece en-
titled "Circus Fun," Bethany,
Bethany and Sarah are the
daughters of Jason and Chris
Millican of Rusk. David is the son
of Gary and Joan Robbins of Rusk.
He was preceded in death by his
father, Harvey W. Glenn in No-
vember 1998.
Survivors are his wife, Joy Jones
Glenn of Palestine; his mother,
Mildred June Glenn of Palestine;
a daughter, Amanda Ratkovic of
Phoenix, Ariz.; a step-daughter
and her husband, Karen and Tony
Denman of Huntsville; a brother-
in-law, Jimmy Jones of Rusk; two
sisters and brothers-in-law,
Victoria J. LaFleur ofTexas City
and Rhanda Beth and Scott Clow
