The opening period looked
promising as the Lady Eagles
were able to get the ball inside
to their 6* post player, Monique
Carter, who scored 18 of her
teams 16 points to stake the
Lady Eagles to a 16-lSleadat

The second period was all

gan to hit from the outside,
including two three pointers.
The Lionettes outscored the
Lady Bagles by ten, 21- U, to

The lady Ragles looked im-
pressive, winning 4 and losing
1, in the Longview tournament
Thursday, Friday and Satur-
day.
Fool play began Thursday

against Lady Tigers from
Harleton. The lad)' Ragles had
no trouble, winning 9-0, with
sophomore pitcher Sara Mc-
Clain pitching a perfect game,
striking out eight in the pro-
ceas. Leading the lady Ragles
in hitting was Vicky Lusk who
went a tor 3 with 3 rbi's.
Friday saw more of the same,
with Senior pitcher Nikki
Ansley duplicating the feat,
pitching a no hit, no walk per-
fect game, striking out ft as the
Lady Ragles downed Bullard
18-0,
Heather Conner and CJ
Dewbre came up big for Rusk,
getting two hits apiece and
knocking in four runs, Rlisa-
beth Selden and Kasey Martin
drove in two runs on two hits.
Freshman Tori Gretham
took her turn on the mound fur

made it three no-hitters u\ a
row,
Gresham allowed one hit in a
14-0 rout of Winona, The lady
•Kagles scored 9 runs in the
first inning on 8 walks, 3 hit
batters, 2 errors and 3 hits.
Bracket piny began Saturday
morning with Rusk matched
up against Gilmer. McClain
took the mound once more and
limited Gilmer to one hit and
no runs, vipping her record to H-
0 fbr the year,
Vicky Lusk was credit ed with
two rbi's while Nikki Ansley
and Kasey Martin drove in one
apiece.
The second bracket game saw
the lady Eagles bats turn as
cold as the weather, wasting a
great pitching performance by
Ansley, Rusk lost by a acora of
1-0 to Quit man,
Ansly struck out ft and gayv
up only three hits in conditions
that ware beat suited fbrdueks,
The lady Ragles could never
get Anything going, managing
only one hit, advancing only
one runner as far as second
base.
The lady Ragles will return
to action when they trawl to
Spring Hill to participate in
the Spring HillAVhite Oak tour-
nament, Games will begin
Thursday, March I with finals
to he played Saturday, March
3.

Pineywoods Classic
The Rusk varsity baseball team
opened their season with a 13-3
loss at the hands of the Palestine
wildcats.
Brad Welch was tagged with the
loss while Tallie Holland and
Chucky Pate collected the only
hits for the Eagles.
The Eagles bounced back In the
second round with a 10-2 victory
over the Nacogdoches JV.
Picking up the victory for the
Eagles was Chad Lindar. Leading
the Eagles hitters wasChucky Pate
who had three hits and three rbi's.
Luke Ocker, Drew Sltgreaves
and Cole Lucas collected two hits
apiece.
The Eagles fall to Whltehouse In
the third round of the tournament
by the score of 10-4. Defense
proved to be their downfall as they
committed 6 errors which led to 8
unearned runs.
The Eagles ended tha
tournament on a positive note,
downing the Bulldogs 10-1, with
Adam Wick picking up his first
victory of the young season.
Luke Ocker had two hits
including a towering home run to
lead the Eagles to victory.
