ISLAND OP SORROW.
A fishing disaster is reported
from Fuglo, in the Faroe i^ands,
north of the Shetiands, which result-
ed in one of the smaller islands be-
ing almost denuded of its male pop-
ulation. Twenty-six of the twenty-
seven men on the island set out a
week or two ago on a fislung expedi-
tion in small boats, all of which were
swamped, and every man was
drowned in a terrific gale. The only
man left on the island is too old for
work, and he alone is left to protect
the wives and families of the
drowned men.

Dime Box Barbecue.
Some thirty or forty from here
attended the barbecue at new
Dimebox last '"uesday and were
pleased with the growth of the
little town which has sprung up
since the Central road built
through here. There are several
nice mercantile establishments
there, and two story brick the
balance iron buildings. The day
was spent pleasantly by all, and
a brass band furnished music
throughout the day. Deanville,
Lyons, Porter's Prairie and
Prairiedale and Hogg were rep
resented from this county.

The hot weather and summer
"vacationing'' has cut our at j

were present last Sunday. The
children promised to make pre
sentees out of the absentees, atnl,
so we are looking for a larger at j
tendance next Sunday. At the!
earnest request of the teacher, i
Mrs. Hartgraves, her class was ¡
placed in charge of Mrs. F, N.

No 7 is one of the best classes j
in «.«'liool and is the pioneer class i
in special Missionary collections,
as they have been paying $lo:
each year for several years
There are two lessons given j
for next Sunday. A review and
a Missionary lesson. We will
take the latter. The scripture
is Matthew • i ."> 15. This is the
prayer taught the disciples by
Christ and known as tbe "I rds
Prayer." One writer suggests
to the man who opposes Missions
that he take this prayer and fix
it to suit his vn-ws and see how
little will be left. He first cuts
out "Our," for that seems to rec-
ognize God as Father of all. I he
petition "Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done" and etc., must
bo cut out entirely for "The Lord
is not willing that any should per-
ish, but that all should come to
repentance." "The kingdoms of
this world" shall "become the
kingdoms of our Lord and of his
Christ." Such passages could
he multiplied almost indefinitely,
it is inconceivable however that
any intelligent christian should
bp opposed to Missions. Chris-
tlsnity must be Missionary to be
