ing emptied the Ellis County
Courthouse of its population-
but rather briefly.
According to reports received
here, the City Police Department
of Waxahachie received an
anonymous phone call, stating
that a bomb had been planted
in the Courthouse.
As the evacuation was in prog-
ress, units from the Sheriff’s
Department and the Police Dept,
searched the Courthouse, top to
bottom, for a bomb. None was
found.
That was about 10:30 a.m.
Most of those who had left
the Courthouse, learning that no
explosive had been discovered,
returned within around twenty
minutes time.
Authorities were inclined to
believe it to have been a hoax
perpetrated by a crank or some-
body with a gruesome idea of a
joke.
